Subaru introduces Outback facelift along with Eyesight technology in the Philippines
MANILA: Subaru has introduced the facelifted version of its Outback SUV in the Philippines at the ongoing Manila International Auto Show. In addition, the Japanese brand has also showcased its groundbreaking Eyesight technology, which helps in preventing a direct collision between the vehicles.
The Outback has undergone a styling renovation featuring a better-sculpted appearance. The front fascia got a new design with a grille featuring large-sized openings. The fog lights towards the edge of the bumper have been redesigned for an enhanced look to match with the newly introduced better-looking C-Shaped LED headlights. The design of alloy wheels has also been improved. The remaining portion of the auto body is left mostly as it is.
The interior of the updated Outback has been kept untouched with just a few enhancements made to the infotainment system. Also, sound deadening materials have been used here and there to make the cabin less noisy. Eyesight tech is also available in the top-end trim.
The facelifted version carries the same engine options. The 2.5i-S offers 175 PS and a torque of 235 Nm and the 3.6R-S Eyesight make 260 PS and a torque of 350 Nm. Both the engines are mated to the Subaru's Lineartronic repeatedly variable transmission and the power is transmitted to all the four wheels. The 2.5i-S version of the 2018 Subaru Outback carries a price tag of Php 2,178,000, whereas, buying the Outback 3.6R-S Eyesight version requires you to pay Php 2,408,000.
Coming to the Eyesight technology, it can be described as a bundle of safety packages. The technology aims at ensuring prevention of collision between the vehicles. It will first get the driver warned, and then take the emergency action if required. The technology uses the cameras and sensors around the car’s exterior to get its job done. The safety package comes featured with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, throttle override, lane sensing, lane departure warning with lane keep assist etc.
