Subaru STI & WRX 2019 gets tech and safety upgrades for the Philippines market

MANILA: Both the Philippines-spec Subaru sedans, the STI and WRX have received an array of top-notch safety features and technological upgrades. The price of 2019 WRX variant starts from around Php 2,008,000 and that of 2019 WRX STI starts from about Php 2,748,000.

Mechanically, the 2019 WRX and WRX STI remain the same as their predecessors. The WRX STI is powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged EJ25, giving 300 hp and yielding 407 Nm of torque coupled with a 6-speed manual. The WRX variants are available with a 2.0-litre turbocharged FA20DIT, producing 268 hp and churning 350 Nm of torque equipped with the Lineartronic CVT.

Subaru has shown great concern over the safety aspects of its passengers by incorporating the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology as a standard safety upgrade across both the 2019 WRX 2.0 CVT variants. This tech upgrade assists the driver to stay aware of any potential danger on the road so that appropriate actions can be taken to prevent the accident. Auto Vehicle Hold system is also included which assist in keeping the brakes engaged even when you remove your foot from the pedal. Electronic Parking Brake helps in holding the car stationary on slopes and flat roads with greater ease, convenience and efficiency.

Both the Subaru WRX and STI sedans are going to get the sophisticated and advanced Harman Kardon Audio system. The iconic design of the system paired with unbeatable audio quality will ensure that the passengers stay entertained and informed. Inside the vehicle, a front grill camera is incorporated into an 8-inch HD display that helps in enhancing the front visibility that can facilitate hassle-free parking while facing a wall. The digital display houses Android Auto integrated with Apple Car Play, and Bluetooth pairing through NFC.

Adequate doses of comfort and elegance have been added to the interior of the WRX STI 2.5 M/T models. Leather-wrapped front seats, designed with lumbar support, feature new trimmings. The sunroof allows proper illumination of the cabin naturally. Other additions include 18-inch aluminium-alloy wheels, Brembo braking system, massive rear spoilers etc.
