New Suzuki Jimny 5-door 2024 launched in Philippines
Price starts at P1.558-M, available in 3 trims
Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH) has finally removed the curtains off the Jimny’s five-door version.
The official reveal of the Japanese automaker's much-awaited model came following numerous reports of its sightings in the country by late 2023.
In his opening remarks SPH President Koichiro Hirao expressed excitement over the arrival of the Jimny’s evolved version, noting that the nameplate has become a symbol of adventure and innovation for Filipinos.
“The Jimny, deeply rooted in a rich heritage, stands as a testament to Suzuki's commitment to excellence. Its popularity is not just a testament to its past glory but a promise of exciting journeys ahead,” he said.
For his part, SPH Director and General Manager for Automobile Division Norihide Takei said that the Jimny stands as a lightweight, compact, authentic off-road vehicle capable of conquering diverse terrains. “Get ready for an incredible journey and experience the beauty of places yet undiscovered that Nobody but Jimny can bring you,” Takei said.
Suzuki Jimny 5-door Dimension
The new Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is 3,820 millimeters long, 1,645 millimeters wide, and 1,720 mm tall with a 2,590 mm wheelbase. The extended wheelbase led to an improved luggage area, which can also be attributed to its lowered floor height and increased depth — giving owners 211-1,131 liters of cargo room. Aside from the bigger compartment, the area comes with a lamp and accessory socket. The removal of the toolbox will surely give its users easier loading and unloading of baggage.
The extended wheelbase of the five-door model has resulted in an expanded luggage area. Although the luggage box from the 3-door model has been removed, the lowered floor height and increased depth of the luggage area now offer a spacious 211L of luggage capacity (with the rear seatback raised).
Enhancements include a luggage area lamp illuminating the entranceway and the removal of the toolbox for simplified loading and unloading of luggage. Similar to the three-door model, the luggage area in the five-door model is also outfitted with an accessory socket.
Suzuki Jimny 5-door Exterior
On the outside, the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door maintained the boxy body that exudes its off-road capability and durability.
Up front, the five-door model still wears the signature round headlamps and five-slot grille with chrome accents.
Aside from that, it also sports upright A-pillars, a flat clamshell bonnet, dipped lines of the driver and passenger windows, as well as the 15-inch dark-metallic alloy wheels.
Suzuki Jimny 5-door Interior
Inside the cabin, Suzuki Jimny 5-Door continues its practical yet functional design.
Majority of the area is covered in black hue to avoid unnecessary colors or decorations.
Horizontal lines on the instrument panel and vertical lines in the meter cluster alongside the center console panels provide aid to drivers in measuring the vehicle's angle — especially in challenging terrains.
The model’s rear seat now comes with thicker seat cushions — which, SPH claims, can comfortably accommodate two adults. Giving additional illumination is the rear seat lamp fitted directly above the rear passengers.
In addition, the rear seat power window switches are conveniently located in both the rear doors and the front console box for easy control from both rows.
Suzuki Jimny 5-door Powertrain
Just like its three-door brethren, the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is also powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline that can give almost 101 horsepower and 130-Newton-meters of torque. The mill is mated to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox.
Managing the rugged terrains are the All-Grip Pro feature, a sturdy ladder frame, short overhangs, three-link rigid axle suspension with coil spring and part-time four-wheel-drive with low-range transfer gear.
Suzuki Jimny 5-door Safety
The Suzuki Jimny 5-Door comes with a host of safety features which include front, side, and curtain airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, hill hold and hill descent control, electronic stability program, brake assist, as well as reverse parking camera and sensors.
Suzuki Jimny 5-door Variants and Pricing
Offered in GL and GLX variants, the Suzuki Jimny is available in Jungle Green, Celestial Blue Pearl Metallic, Arctic White Pearl, and Granite Gray Metallic (for monotone) and Sizzling Red Metallic-Bluish Black Pearl and Chiffon Ivory Metallic-Bluish Black Pearl (two-tone versions).
The pricing of the Suzuki Jimny 5-door are as follows:
