Time for a Safety Lesson - By Toyota Motor Corporation
MANILA: The heading may remind you of the many lectures that you have earlier attended in your life. An event where a learned professor is invited on stage to share his in-depth knowledge on a particular subject. Such type of events are attended by students graduating in that particular subject or holding an interest in that particular topic. All these people come to attend the programme with full enthusiasm, that eventually converts into boredom and yawning. But the lecture we are talking about is a bit different, as it misses out on the serious professors and sober attendees. All you'll get to see here are fun joyous teachers, dressed as cartoons and a fun-loving audience, who are more than happy to attend the so-called lecture.
Well it's Toyota's style to impart knowledge, as the brand seems to know it well that making it boring won't help the information to last long, especially if they are on a mission to teach naughty kindergarten kids. Yes, you read it right, in the audience, we have small school going kids and Toyota through its interactive methods is trying to teach them basic yet important road safety rules.
Now, it may be a new information for Filipinos, but for people living in Japan, it's a yearly event that runs under the name, 'Annual Traffic Safety School'. In the Philippines, this job is undertaken by the German automaker, Volkswagen, who over the years is seen conducting traffic safety drives for kids, accompanied by the issue of junior licence.
Let's now try and get to know this Toyota sponsored social event better -
- For over 40 years, Toyota Motor Corporation is conducting such programmes which they feel is a part of their responsibility towards the society. All in all, it’s a part of their Social Contribution Regime aimed to 'enrich lives around the world'.
- The very first event took place back in the year 1975 and since then it is imparting fundamental traffic knowledge in children.
- In its vast scholar list are included, children from kindergarten, nursery schools and Toyota day-care centre.
- Talking figuratively, since its inception, this knowledge imparting event has benefited 252,997 kindergartens and nursery children and 14,554 of their guardians. This programme has been organised in as many as 3,451 schools.
All these efforts by Toyota help it fall under the category of some noble companies, whose main goal is not just to acquire a wider consumer base and earn maximum profit, but they are also actively working on improving society as a whole.
