Toyota PH adds new convenience, safety features to 2022 Hilux

MANILA: Leading mobility company Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) introduced its latest product improvements to the country's best-selling pickup brand, the Toyota Hilux.

With its added exterior, safety, and convenience features, the 2022 Toyota Hilux currently available in the market is not only here to conquer tougher roads, but to be the efficient livelihood partner for business owners.

The 2022 Toyota Hilux G upgrades its exterior and now comes with Tailgate Assist and Bedliner – features that were previously available only to the Hilux GR Sport (GR-S) and Conquest variants.

The Hilux’ Quality, Durability, and Reliability (QDR) gets stronger than ever with convenience upgrades.

Both Hilux GR-S and Conquest are now equipped with Cruise Control Steering Switch and Lane Departure Alert Steering Switch to help drivers take on tougher roads with much ease. Additionally, the Hilux GR-S now has a Rear A/C Vent to make drives more comfortable than ever.

Tougher roads require more safety features. The Hilux Conquest and GR-S variants now come with Pre-Collision System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Alert to give drivers peace of mind as they take on demanding drives. All these are on top of the Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with the GR-S variant.

The Toyota Hilux leads the local pickup market, representing 43% in the pickup category for 2022.

Price of the updated Hilux range starts at P1.285 million for 2022 Hilux G, P1.468 million for 2022 Hilux Conquest and P2.039 million for the 2022 Hilux GR-S.

Last year, Toyota Motor Philippines further expanded its Gazoo Racing-Sport lineup with the launch of the Toyota Hilux GR-S. The pickup rides on the same international multi-purpose vehicle (IMV) platform as the Fortuner.

The development of the GR-S badge was influenced by Toyota Gazoo Racing, Toyota’s global motorsports division concentrating on specialized research and production of cars developed with racing DNA.

The Toyota Hilux GR-S features a black gloss G-mesh front grille with a Toyota emblem running across the vehicle’s front. Like the Fortuner GR-S, this Hilux is equipped with 18-in alloy wheels with machine-cut finish and black-tinted clear coating.

Similar to the 2023 Toyota Hilux Rogue, the Hilux GR-S is also motivated by a 2.8 liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that produces 201 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Again, this is coupled with a four-wheel drive system and a six-speed automatic transmission.

Inside, the Hilux GR-S models also feature a red, black, and smoke silver metallic-accented GR interior. The steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and sport-type front seats are all wrapped in leather with red stitching. The Fortuner GR-S gets matte carbon trims on the center cluster, while the Hilux GR-S comes with paddle shifters. Both models are also equipped with eight-way power adjustable seats and a dual zone air-conditioning system.

The GR-S variant is the first Hilux to get a panoramic view monitor. To ensure a stable ride and race-like steering feel, the Hilux GR-S is fitted with front GR brake calipers and new monotube-type suspension.
