Toyota Philippines grasps legacy in pickup truck segment

MANILA: Even after sitting in a very competitive segment, Toyota Motor Philippines concludes the first half of 2019 with an impressive result in the pickup truck segment. The venerable Hilux remains on the top of the list based on the most recent industry report. A total of 10,554 units has been sold from January to June 2019. Toyota Hilux defeated all other pickup trucks for the first 6 months of the year by increasing its sales by 35 percent compared to 2018. The brand mentioned that the mighty performance of the Hilux carries a strong demand for commercial vehicles (CVs) in the nation.

Hilux sales are most effective in Metro Manila with over 4,261 units sold year-to-date, accompanied by Region III or Central Luzon ( Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Tarlac, and Zambales) with 1,219 units sold. TMP Vice President for Marketing Elijah Marcial mentioned that “Hilux is synonymous with Toyota. The model has been in our lineup for more than five decades, and proves itself time and again to be the prime example of Toyota’s strength as a manufacturer.” 

She even added that Hilux earned a global character for its sturdiness through the years. In addition to that, she also stated “Its overall utility as a pickup truck, combined with high ground clearance and excellent towing power, makes for a reliable daily hauler for business and family use.”

In order to sweeten the deal more, Hilux is covered in the brand’s “Toyota Delightful Savings” promo, which allows customers to avail of up to P 100,000 cash discount. Toyota Motor Philippines remains the nation’s best automotive brand, which sold over 73,454 units for the first half of 2019. The five best-selling models of Toyota from January to June 2019 are Innova, Fortuner, Vios, Hilux, and Wigo.
