"One thing for sure is that both Volvos are designed to provide our customers with the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable, and safe way,” he added.
While maintaining their respective characteristics, the two vehicles share notable similarities.
Engine
Per Volvo Philippines, the duo comes with the same all-wheel drive twin-motor power mill that can deliver 408 horsepower and 660 Newton-meters of torque. The said engine allows both offerings to reach 100 kilometers per hour from standstill in less than five seconds — Volvo XC40 Recharge in 4.9 seconds while the C40, in 4.7 seconds.
In addition, the vehicles can also cover more than 500 kilometers (km) of road as the C40 and XC40 Recharge have the range of 549 km and 537 km, respectively. The EV mill setup offers DC fast-charging that can juice up a battery from 10 up 80 percent in 27 minutes.
Both the Volvo C40 and XC40 Recharge are using the Compact Modular Architecture platform.
Exterior
In terms of looks, the newly-launched models wear a new front fascia design that has a frameless grille and new bumper that generally symbolizes the brand’s journey towards electrification.
However, the Volvo C40 Recharge is lower in stance and has a sleeker design. It has a coupe-like roofline compared to the XC40 Recharge.
Interior
Inside, both vehicles share sustainable material fitments by way of premium leather-free upholstery interiors. In addition, the two offerings have their own panoramic sunroof, advanced air purifier system, and smart cabin solutions, among others.
Technologies
Further, Volvo Philippines claimed that the Volvo XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge are equipped with infotainment systems developed with Google and based on the Android operating system. It is matched to a 13-speaker Harman Kardon system.
“The Volvo pure electric C40 and XC40 Recharge models will pave the way for more people to enjoy the full electric mobility experience. Both models are superior in terms of power, range, charging speed, and battery capacity. Even more enticing is that all these features are tied up in the most competitive ownership package in the whole industry,” Volvo Philippines Marketing Director Chris Yu said.
Packaged with an eight-year battery warranty, five-year roadside assistance, a three-year comprehensive car warranty, a wall box charger, and unlimited digital update service, the Volvo XC40 Recharge is offered at an introductory price of P3.99 million and C40 Recharge for P4.19 million.
