Volvo Promises to Pay for Damages if its Self-Driving Cars Crash
MANILA: Volvo claims that their future cars will be accident free and would ensure low rate of failure. This is one of the most ambitious goals of the auto maker. So, Volvo promised to pay for the damages in case its self-driving cars undergo crash. Volvo is working on developing many autonomous features that will solve majority of car faults.
At the Swedish embassy in Washington DC, the CEO of Volvo, Mr. Hakan Samuelsson said that the company will be ‘accepting full liability’ if their self-driving featured cars undergo any damage. Even Mercedes-Benz and Google offer similar claims to their customers. The feature will be completely honest and there won't be any chance of any fraud claim as the self-driving autonomous cars will create a log with every single use. Samuelsson also announced that Volvo shall take severe action against someone trying to hack vehicle's on-board system and it will be regarded as a criminal offense undoubtedly.
Recently, during a seminar, the company revealed the working of Auto-Pilot system with the help of a video and photos. They claimed that the car will be completely autonomous and safe on roads without any human input.
This technological upgradations in the vehicles shows the belief of the automaker and the hard work of the committed engineers and software developers who have managed to bring the technology in our hands. Volvo's promise to fulfil the entire damage cost reveals that the cars will surely ensure low rate of fatigue.
