At a glance, the Honda Giorno+ appears wide and gives the impression that it can accommodate riders with a heavier build — such as the author.
Complementing its stout appearance are chunky wheels that contribute to its good ground clearance and allow the motorcycle to easily go over potholes and speed bumps. Likewise, the seat is well-cushioned and contributes to its overall beefy appeal.
Fit, finish
One of the most striking features of the Honda Giorno+ is its neo-classic design language.

At its fore is a circular LED headlamp fitted with a chrome hexagonal housing. Adding to its traditional aesthetics is a pair of body-color oval side mirrors (with black trims), retro-styled brake levers, and old-school-looking brown rubber grips.

Its front fascia is also decorated with a chrome Honda emblem, two turn signals in the corners of the fairings, and a short front fender.
The small scooter’s side profile is equipped with chrome “GIORNO+” nameplates, neatly tucked metal foot pegs for the pillion rider, and the aforementioned plush saddle that is swathed in brown upholstery.

Noticeable too, from this angle, is the motorcycle’s old-fashioned exhaust cover, radiator cladding, air filter box, and transmission housing. All of which are finished in matte black.
At the back, the Honda Giorno+ gets a brushed silver grab bar, shiny chrome housing that protects the LED taillamp, and a pair of turn signals. The plastic rear fender is also short and comes with a reflector as well as a number plate holder.

Generally, the Honda Giorno+ boasts a neutral retro look that would appeal to both male and female riders.

HPI is offering genuine accessories for the Giorno+.

Powertrain, chassis
Propelling the Honda Giorno+ is a four-stroke, four-valve, liquid-cooled 125-cubic-centimeter engine. The gasoline mill is paired with a continuously variable transmission that offers smooth power transfer from low to high speeds.
On paper, the classic-styled motorbike generates some 11.38 horsepower with 11.6 Newton-meters of torque.

On the saddle, this translates to smooth acceleration in stop-and-go traffic, which makes the Honda Giorno+ a good motorcycle to drive when strolling around the metro. Likewise, it has enough “oomph” when taking on long straightaways with little to no loss of power when zooming through the highway.
The writer was able to ride the motorcycle from Laguna (Santa Rosa) to Manila (Binondo) to meet with fellow enthusiasts, then back to Santa Rosa. It proved to be capable when zooming and weaving through traffic and did not feel like it lacked power during the ordeal.
Also admirable is its suspension system, which made the ride more comfortable and somewhat bearable.

It uses a telescopic front fork and mono rear shock combo, paired with a hydraulic disc brake at the front and a mechanical leading trailing drum brake at the back.
Through the said setup, halts and deceleration felt smooth. Further, the fat 100/90 tubeless tires (front and back) wrapping the bike’s 12-inch black cast wheel (with curved tire valves) helped absorb the road imperfections that are common in major Filipino thoroughfares.
Fuel economy
Riders who are particular with fuel economy would be happy to know that HPI states that the Honda Giorno+ clocks in at 47 kilometers per liter.
It is also equipped with an idling stop system, which kills the engine when it is idle to help save gas. Those who worry about cramming when the traffic light goes green need not fret since a light twist of the throttle will bring the engine back to life.
Should it bother owners, the idling stop system can be turned off via a dedicated switch on the motorcycle’s instrument board.
Tech, features
The Honda Giorno+ comes with a handful of features that are aimed at making one’s riding experience more convenient. Here are a few:
Digital meter panel
Notable is the motorbike’s digital meter panel, which feeds the rider with important information without flooding him or her with information. That said, the instrument cluster is easy to read and understand, making it a user-friendly feature.

Large console box with USB charger
Located at the left side of the rider is a 2.4-liter console box that can house various smartphones and electronic gadgets. It comes with a handy USB charger, which can juice up various electronic items.

While the console box may not exactly be waterproof, it can protect one’s belongings from light rain.
Front fuel tank, luggage hook
Riders will not have to dismount their motorcycles — or open up their underseat utility box and expose their valuables — every time they need to refuel. The Honda Giorno+ has its fuel tank cap placed on the front of the rider for easier access.
It also gets a foldable luggage hook, which will not get in the way if you are stowing large bags on its somewhat spacious step board.
Large luggage box
The Honda Giorno+ has a large underseat luggage box that can accommodate up to 30 liters of cargo. It can fit a half-face helmet, but the author had trouble cramming a full-face one. Nevertheless, it proved to be more than enough for stashing pasalubongs and other items like jackets and small bags.

Smart key system, remote
Rounding up the Honda Giorno+’s convenience features is a smart key and remote system. Like in automobiles, the system works when the key is in close proximity to the scooter and allows the rider to switch the bike on or off, lift up the seat, or open the fuel tank cover.
Variant, pricing
The Honda Giorno+ is offered in a single variant but can be had in four color options, which we have listed here:
- Virgin Beige
- Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic
- Pearl Jubilee White
- Piquant Orange
Customers wanting to bring home the Honda Giorno+ will be set back some P101,900.
