Honda Beat Fi-eSp: Top alternatives
The Honda Beat Fi-eSp was launched in the Philippines market amidst much fanfare. Agreeably so, our country has been a huge fan of the step-through frame bikes, given the fact that they are more of a utility and can easily be pushed or even carried on one’s shoulders.
The Honda Beat Fi-eSp has its work cut out as there are many established players who want to play spoilsport. These include the very capable Yamaha Sight, Suzuki Address, Suzuki Skydrive Fi, its own stablemates - Wave 110R and Wave 125 Alpha. Honda has endowed the Beat Fi-eSp with many features like easy start, idling Stop-Start, wider step floor, combined braking with a disc in the front as well as storage space under the seat. The Honda Beat Fi-eSP comes with a carburettor as well as fuel injected engine options. We have chosen the 8.68PS/9.01Nm fuel-injected 108cc engine here. It is priced at Php 69,900. Here are some alternatives for this Honda scooter that are available at more or less the same price and look better too.
Honda Wave 110R
Competition to the Beat comes from within its stable, in the form of the Wave 100 which has been a formidable scooter for quite some time. Priced at Php 59,900, the Wave 110R packs in a Euro 3 110cc carburetted engine that is good for 7.57PS and 8.54Nm torque. There isn’t much in the form of equipment here but buyers get 17-inch tyres mounted on spoke wheels, disc brake at the front, and a secure key shutter.
Honda Wave 125 Alpha
The Honda Wave 125 Alpha boasts a swankier styling and gets alloys, leg shields, half chain case, and a front disc brake. Honda has used a 124.8cc carburetted engine here that develops 8.84PS and 10.07Nm of power and torque figures respectively. In spite of its higher capacity, the Honda Wave 125 Alpha is priced at Php 60,900.
Suzuki Skydrive Fi
Suzuki’s Skydrive Fi looks like a proper scooter and is the most stylish of the lot. Its 125cc engine makes 9.38PS of power and 9.5Nm of torque. A variomatic CVT belt takes care of the transmission. Suzuki offers front disc brake, under seat storage, stowage space near handlebar, and funky decals. The price of the Suzuki Skydrive Fi is Php 78,900.
Suzuki Address
The Suzuki Address is a 9.38PS/8.7Nm 113cc sporty scooter that also uses fuel injection to smoothen things out. The big 5.2-litre fuel tank, as well as a near 55kmpl fuel efficiency, ensure lesser fuel pump stops. Suzuki has given it some trendy graphics, a front disc brake and a 20-litre storage space under the seat. The best part is the price. At Php 66,900, it makes for a great alternative to the Honda BeAT.
Yamaha Sight Cast Wheel
Yamaha isn’t far behind in offering value-for-money features and the Sight is one of them. Available both in spoke as well as cast wheel configurations, the Yamaha Sight has a 113cc engine that uses fuel injection to make 8.7PS of power and 9.5Nm. The Sight weighs 96kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 4.0-litres. Yamaha gives an analogue gear indicator as part of the instrument cluster of the Sight. It also provides for a front disc brake. All this for Php 62,900 with the cast wheel version.
As you can see, these are some great alternatives to the latest Honda on the field. Do let us know in the comments section below if you can think of any other alternative.
