Propelling the motorcycle is a relatively peppy 150 cubic centimeter (cc) single overhead cam, four-stroke, single-cylinder mill capable of producing up to 11.2 horsepower (hp) and 11.9 Newton-meters of torque. Managing power for the Kymco model is a continuously variable transmission (CVT). 

It also features air-cooling, anti-lock braking, disc brakes, a telescopic front fork, a double shock swing arm rear suspension, an LCD gauge cluster, a sporty-looking windscreen, USB charging ports, and an attractively angular set of fairings.

One of the Kymco Skytown 150’s biggest rivals in the Philippine market is the Honda ADV 160. 

Just like the new scooter from the Taiwanese brand, the ADV 160 sports sharply cut fairings, LED headlamps, and a two-seater saddle. 

Additionally, the Honda-made ride also boasts a selectable torque control system, anti-lock braking, a set of wavy disc brakes, a USB charging port, LED lighting, a tall windscreen, a sub-tank twin shock rear suspension, and a telescopic front fork - among others. 

Power-wise, the ADV 160’s 157-cc single-overhead cam, liquid-cooled engine can generate up to 15.8 hp and 14.7 Nm of torque. It also uses a V-matic transmission.

Yamaha Nmax

Yamaha Motor Philippine's rival to the Kymco Skytown 150, meanwhile, is the Nmax. 

At most, the Nmax’s 155-cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled single overhead cam engine can generate 15 hp and 13.9 Nm of torque. It also uses a V-belt automatic transmission, an idle start-stop system, and a wet sump lubrication system. 

For a smooth ride, the Yamaha-made scoot utilizes a telescopic front fork and a unit swing arm rear end. Stopping power, meanwhile, is handled by front and rear disc brakes that are equipped with anti-lock braking.

Yet another competitor of the Skytown 150 is the Bristol ADX 160. 

Like the Honda competitor, this ride from Bristol Philippines is equipped with a sharp, angular look, which is complemented by a tall windscreen, LED exterior lighting, and a gold-colored front fork. 

Propelling the ADX 160 is a 155-cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder gasoline engine capable of churning out 13 hp and 14 Nm of torque. It also gets a CVT and a pair of disc brakes with anti-lock braking.

While the all-new Kymco Skytown 150 is not the most powerful ride in its segment, it offers several niceties that are not present in its competitors. Specifically, its traction control and anti-lock combo is a game changer when it comes to safety. Plus, it offers more convenience thanks to its two USB ports. 

Serious buyers who are considering the Kymco model, however, should give it a test drive first. Doing so, after all, will result in a more informed purchase in the end.
