The tryout, HPI said, is to help the company nurture the next generation of motorcycle racing talents in the country.
The 12 riders — who showcased their skills onboard the CBR150R during the grassroots program held at Carmona Racing Circuit in Cavite late last year — will then participate in Honda’s “Road to Champion” racing campaign for 2024, where they will take part in upcoming domestic and international races.
“We will continue to support the dreams of these young riders that one day there will be a Honda Filipino rider who will push themselves and accept the challenges and be the next rider aiming to be on the Road to Champion. Again, to all young riders, make the most of your passion and challenge yourself to achieve your dreams,” HPI President Sayaka Arai said.
To note, Jakob Sablaya and Alfonsi Daquigan (who have raced locally and abroad) were discovered from the said program.
“HPI is overwhelmed that many young Filipino riders are dreaming to become world-class racers. Again, to all young riders, make the most of your passion and challenge yourself to achieve your dreams,” HPI Vice President for HPI Vice President Motorcycle Sales and Supply Chain Management Jomel Jerezo was quoted as saying.
