Honda 60th Anniversary Super Cub is open for bookings

MANILA: Do you remember the previous Tokyo Motor Show, Honda had revealed concepts marking the production milestone of 100 million units? The star of the show, definitely being the 60th Anniversary Super Cub, Honda has been celebrating it all year long in 2018. Honda marked the Super Cub’s celebration with a range of new exciting models, thrilling announcements, events in Japan, and celebratory collaborations.

Honda has now revealed that the special edition 2018 60th Anniversary Super Cub is open for bookings and that too, for a limited time only. Inspired by the 1966 CA100 export model, Honda has chosen to go for the classic Magna Red two-tone scheme for the special Super Cub 50 model. The 1966 CA100 export model created one of the most remembered campaigns in advertising history: "You meet the nicest people on a Honda."

Honda memorialized the significance of their 100-million milestone and the Cub’s 60th anniversary in a special way. This unique little underbone comes with a striking heart-shaped emblem on its side covers and an exclusive key.

The 2018 Super Cub 60th Anniversary edition comes in two configurations: the 49cc Super Cub 50 and the 109cc Super Cub 110. The special 2018 60th Anniversary Super Cub 50 retails for JPY 243,000 (around Php 117,420) while the exclusive 60th Anniversary Super Cub 110 is priced at JPY 286,200 (around Php 138,295). They both are now available to order in Japan until October 31, 2018.

This underbone, the world’s favorite one, is powered by a 4-stroke, single cylinder OHC engine with PGM-FI. 2018 Super Cub 60th Anniversary edition promises to give outstanding fuel economy and with better emissions too. It is mated to a 4-speed, 4-mesh semi-automatic gearbox.

It also features an electric as well as a kick starter, is included. The round headlight, indicators, and instrument panel all utilize LED lighting in them. Both the versions, 50cc and 110cc, have the same 735mm seat heights and 4.3-litre fuel capacities as well.

The regular 2018 Honda Super Cub 50, sells for JPY 232,200 (around Php 112,201) and comes in Pearl Shining Yellow, Virgin Beige, Moonstone Silver Metallic, Tasmania Green Metallic, and Urbane Denim Blue Metallic colours. While the ordinary 2018 Honda Super Cub 110 is priced at JPY 275,400 (around Php 133076) and is available in Glint Wave Blue Metallic, Classic White, Virgin Beige, Tasmania Green Metallic, and Urbane Blue Metallic colours.

As we all know the huge demand for underbones in the Philippines, this bike may even launch here too. Till then we can just wait and watch for the Honda bigwigs to take their decision.
