Honda PH to Provide Assistance to Trainers for MMDA’s Motorcycle Riding Academy
MANILA: Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on promoting road safety at the MMDA building in Pasig City.

According to MMDA's official statement, the development of this Road Safety program in collaboration with one of the biggest motorcycle manufacturers in the Philippines was driven by the alarming statistics concerning road accidents and fatalities, particularly those involving motorcycles.
MMDA has taken proactive steps regarding this issue, considering the fact that the Philippines ranks 11th out of 175 countries in terms of road traffic deaths, with motorcycles considerably contributing to the figures.
Arai-Hattori asserts that the collaboration between HPI and MMDA will serve a vital role in minimizing traffic-related fatalities and injuries on Metro Manila roads. She highlighted the value of cooperation between the government and private sectors in reducing the number of traffic-related accidents on the roads.
“Road safety is one of the greatest challenges that our nation is currently facing that requires a strong sense of urgency and collaboration among stakeholders and by becoming the industry's main driver in terms of safety, quality, and innovation,” Arai-Hattori stated.
This partnership aims to reduce the number of fatal road accidents in Metro Manila through a “train the trainer” program, wherein Honda Safety Driving Center will offer comprehensive motorcycle skills training programs for the MMDA's traffic safety instructors and assist in the creation of training modules that are in line with Honda's global safety direction as well as local traffic laws.
Additionally, HPI donated 21 Honda motorcycle units to the MMDA's Motorcycle Riding Academy practical training program.
The training program at MMDA’s Motorcycle Riding Academy will be open to the public for free. Those who complete the required training will be awarded certificates of attendance and completion, demonstrating their commitment to improving road safety and responsible riding.
