New Kawasaki Ninja 650 introduced in Indonesia at 2016 IMOS
MANILA: In the middle weight segment, Kawasaki Ninja 650 is one of the most impressive bikes and now this thrilling performer has made its Indonesian entry at the ongoing 2016 IMOS. Before its entry in the Indonesian market, the bike made its debut at the Intermot Motorcycle Show in Cologne, Germany. For the 2017 model year, the bike has been given a series of significant changes, making it look sharper and more aggressive. The fairing is more aerodynamic now while the fuel tank and wheels have also received some cosmetic updates.
The street fighter appeal is added through low-slung headlight cluster, sharp lines on the body and exposed frame. The new chassis of the 2017 Ninja 650 has helped in reducing the overall weight by 19 kg, which has also helped in improving the fuel economy by up to 6.8 percent. Ninja 650 features a three-way adjustable windscreen, an all-new digital instrument cluster and conventional unit in place of a monoshock.
Powering this sporty bike is a 649cc parallel twin motor, which churns out a maximum power of 69 hp which was 71 hp in the previous version but, this reduced power output will not affect the performance as the reduced weight will give a better power-to-weight ratio. The peak torque stands at 66 Nm and the engine is further coupled to a 6-speed gearbox while a slipper clutch and ABS are offered as standard. As the bike is introduced in Indonesia, we can also expect the updated version of Ninja 650 to replace the existing model soon. But, there is no word from the manufacturer yet. We expect that Kawasaki will introduce 2017 Ninja 650 by next year in the Philippines.
