What does Yamaha call its new automated manual transmission system?
Yamaha calls its new technology Y-AMT.What are some of the befits of the Y-AMT?
Per Yamaha, Y-AMT allows for swift and responsive gear shifting as well as comfort and sportiness when riding.Dubbed Y-AMT (Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission), it automatically controls the clutch and gearshift when starting out and while riding through the use of a sophisticated electronic control.
Per the Japanese motorcycle brand, its Y-AMT technology consolidates shift operations into a lever on the handlebars. As a result, it allows for more intuitive gear changes, which frees the rider from clutch and shift pedal operations and enhances the enjoyment of controlling the motorcycle at will and contributing to an improved experience of being one with the machine.
Yamaha’s Y-AMT system incorporates an automatic (AT) mode on top of the standard manual (MT) mode, which the Shizuoka-headquartered marque notes is ideal for various road environments such as city streets, highways, or winding roads.
It also allows the motorcycle to adapt to various weather conditions.
“Both MT and AT modes feature quick response, providing consistent expert-level gear changes without any compromise to sporty performance,” Yamaha said in a press release.
According to Yamaha, its Y-AMT technology not only enhances the experience of being one with the machine but also provides more freedom to take in the surrounding scenery, assess road conditions, and improves peace of mind when operating the motorcycle, thereby expanding on the possibilities for enjoying motorcycling and opening up motorcycle riding to a greater range of potential users.
