Yamaha Mio Sporty: Pros & cons
The underbone-motorcycle segment is rapidly growing in Southeast Asian countries. It fulfils the demands of people of different age groups. But mostly it is the younger generation that is extremely fond of these bikes. One of such popular underbone-motorcycle is the Yamaha Mio Sporty. Here are some of its Pros and Cons.
Pros:
1. Looks
One of the main reasons why the Mio Sporty is trending in the Philippines is the way it looks. The latest updated model has been tweaked especially to woo in more young buyers. The front of the bike is stylish yet simple. The headlight has been kept small to suit the overall dimensions of the bike. Yamaha has added a muffler on the latest model to increase the style quotient of the Mio Sporty.
The side panels have been redesigned to reflect a sportier stance. The tail light is big and brings the youthful style of the bike forward. The different colors that Yamaha has to offer enhance the sporty look of the Mio - Matte Bold Edition, Matte Black, Matte Gray, Magenta, Yellow, and Purple.
2.Engine
Yamaha recently updated the engine of the Mio Sporty to make it compliant with the Euro 3 emission norms. It is a 114cc, single cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke SOHC engine, that produces 7.7 PS of max power at 8,500 RPM. The torque generated by this engine is 7.2 Nm at 5,500 RPM. The V-belt automatic transmission comes in handy to provide smooth power delivery. Being Euro 3 compliant, this new engine on the Mio Sporty is more efficient than its older version.
3. Ride quality and Comfort
On the new Mio Sporty, Yamaha has provided a feature called Thermal Welded Double Seat. This is tougher at the seams of the saddle. It also dissipates heat quickly to provide a comfortable riding experience. The seat height is 745 mm, which should be easily accessible by riders of different heights.
The Mio Sporty is fitted with the conventional telescopic suspension at the front, and a mono unit at the rear. They do an excellent job of providing a comfortable ride quality by soaking small bumps on the roads pretty well.
4.Brakes
Yamaha has provided a hydraulic disc brake setup at the front of the Mio Sporty. This is really a welcoming featuring. It does not matter, if it is a tiny underbone-motorcycle, braking is as essential a component as the engine. And we’re glad that Yamaha did not turn a blind eye to it. The rear wheel has a typical drum brake setup. The Mio Sporty weighs just 94 kg and this aids in its stopping abilities.
Cons:
1.Engine
Even though Yamaha has updated the Mio’s engine to make it Euro 3 compliant, we would be happier if it also increased the power figures of the bike. It is not that the engine in its current state of tune is rubbish, it's just that a few more horses would not hurt. It would even appeal more to the younger audience.
2. LED lighting
It is not exactly a downside, but with the world moving forward, LEDs are the way to go. Adding LED lighting to the Mio will make it much more tempting and up-to-date.
3. Instrument cluster
The Yamaha Mio comes with a simple analogue instrument cluster which has the basic features. When targeted for the younger lot of the population, the addition of a fully digital instrument cluster would be much appreciated.
There is a lot to like about the Yamaha Mio Sporty. We understand that Yamaha has not provided some of the modern and latest features to keep the price under check. Talking of which, the Mio Sporty has a tag of Php 66,900.
