GAC GN8 PHEV

Upon entering the GAC GN8 PHEV, you are greeted by a luxurious cabin, which boasts impressive spaciousness for seven passengers. It comes with a premium suede interior and Semi-Aniline genuine leather seats, which offer top-notch comfort and ergonomics for everyone on board. Additionally, its second-row electric seats have heating, ventilation, and massage functions, while its driver’s seat comes with lumbar support–all of which contribute to this MPV’s first-class riding experience.

For entertainment and information accessibility, this MPV comes with a 10.1-inch multifunction touchscreen display that is equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity, and is linked to an 8-speaker Yamaha sound system. The GN8 PHEV flaunts GAC’s “Master” exclusive body kit, which exudes immense elegance and confidence wherever it goes. Its front end is defined by a beautiful “lion’s mane” chrome grille and illuminated by T-shaped LED headlights with LED DRLs. Underneath, “MASTER” lettering is displayed on its chrome bumper, emphasizing its premium character on the road.

On the sides, its silhouette resembles the GAC M8’s “Star Diamond Prism” design, highlighted by 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, sleek character lines, and chrome finishes. This MPV comes with power-folding and electrically-adjustable side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals and a position memory function, as well as a second-row welcome light carpet feature. 

Meanwhile, it features a hypermodern back end, accentuated by curved LED taillights with a sleek light bar in the middle. Similar to the front, its chrome rear bumper also comes with a ‘MASTER’ lettering. To complete its overall prestigious look, this MPV also gets an electric tailgate with a sensor-powered opening mechanism.

In terms of suspension, the GAC GN8 PHEV comes with MacPherson Struts at the front and a Multi-Link at the rear. It is surprisingly nimble to maneuver and handles well for its size. The GAC GN8 PHEV runs on a 2.0L plug-in hybrid powertrain, which delivers a 240-hp maximum power output, a 630-Nm maximum torque output, and a 1,032-km combined range (full tank and full charge). Its battery pack also offers a pure electric range of 106 km. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain boasts a WLTC fuel consumption of 6.05L/100km (in a battery-depleted state).

That said, the GN8 PHEV is exceptionally quick for its segment, going from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.8 seconds. It definitely has the capability to perform quick overtakes on the highway and take on steep inclines even with a full load thanks to all of its power and torque on tap.

The GAC GN8 PHEV is equipped with a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, reverse driver assist, fusion automatic parking assist, rear automatic emergency braking, autonomous emergency braking with forward collision warning, traffic jam assist with integrated cruise assist, rear cross traffic alert with rear cross traffic braking and rear car approaching warning, door open warning, and emergency lane keeping. 

This MPV’s braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability program, hydraulic brake assist, hill-start hold control, hill-descent control, and an electronic parking brake with autohold.

In my opinion, the GAC GN8 PHEV has a huge potential to become competitive in the local MPV segment moving forward. It offers an impressive balance of power and efficiency and, at the same time, delivers immense practicality and safety on the road.
