Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

Featuring a different all-black theme with sporty red accents and recycled poly Alcantara and leather finish, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has the same cabin layout as the Ioniq 5 but with more features and tweaks. The first major change is in the driver’s cockpit, with a different leather N multi-functional steering wheel with additional controls like the N Grin Boost button and sporty aluminium pedals. 

The high-tech cockpit of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N retains the 12.3-inch screens for the instrument console and touchscreen infotainment system. However, the former gets additional display modes for the sport-oriented feel of the car. The Ioniq 5 N is heavily equipped with features like powered front seats with heating and ventilation functions, a wireless charging pad, a track-optimised centre console, front, and rear USB type-C charging ports, and dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents. 

Compared to the Ioniq 5 on which it is based, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N looks much sportier with its blacked-out front and rear diffusers and red accents below them. Besides retaining the all-LED headlamps with dual U-shaped LED DRLs, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N also has black highlights for the closed grille.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N sits closer to the ground with lower ground clearance than the standard Ioniq 5 and has red brake callipers, sportier 21-inch machined alloy wheels, and lower-profile tyres for an even racier stance. The bonnet and angular door panels and windows have been retained from the standard Ioniq 5, as have the slanted windscreen, angular-looking boot lid, and LED combination tail lamps with parametric effect. 

With Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear, both of which get stabilisers and adaptive dampers, the suspension setup of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N also has exclusive track-oriented features and systems like N Grin Boost, N Launch Control, N Battery Preconditioning, N Race, drift mode and track-specific regenerative braking for a more thrilling driving experience. The other drive modes in the Ioniq 5 N are Race, Drag Mode, Linear Route and Curved Route, with all the modes selectable from the steering wheel. 

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is powered by a dual-motor setup, one each at the front and rear. These combine to produce a maximum power output of 650 PS and a maximum torque output of 770 Nm. This electric vehicle also comes standard with an 84kWh lithium-ion battery.

While the motors enable the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N to reach a top speed of 260 kmph and cover the 0-100 kmph sprint in 3.4 seconds, the battery has a claimed range of 448 km. The Ioniq 5 N also has the brand’s N e-shift technology, which is assisted with N Active Sound+ tech for lightning shifts and fake exhaust notes, which might not appeal to everyone. 

Besides essentials like airbags all around, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, hill hold assist and hill descent control, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N also has a digital rearview mirror, digital recorder, head-up display, 360-degree parking camera, remote smart parking assist and a plethora of Level-2 ADAS features.

With the Ioniq 5 N, Hyundai has proved that its N division of performance vehicles can have the same excitement and thrill with an electric powertrain as it has always had with petrol engines.
