Jetour Dashing PHEV

While the clean and contemporary layout of the dashboard of the Jetour Dashing PHEV has been retained from the regular version of the SUV, there are some noteworthy changes in the cabin. Compared to the regular Dashing, the new Dashing PHEV has a different black and light grey combination for the interior, which also gets striking contrast blue accents over the dashboard and centre console. 

The dashboard of the Jetour Dashing PHEV features soft-touch black plastics at the top and a textured bronze layer in the middle. The innovative-looking two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, a rectangular full-TFT instrument console and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system have been shared with the regular Dashing.

Like the standard version of the SUV, the Dashing PHEV is decently equipped with several modern features like dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, electronically adjustable, heated and ventilated front seats, memory function and height adjustability for the driver’s seat, 60:40 split rear seats, ambient lighting, a powered tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging pad, an electronic parking brake switch, front and rear centre armrests and a 6-speaker audio system. 

There are not many changes to the Jetour Dashing PHEV over the standard version of the SUV, which continues to have an aggressive and curvaceous design language. The striking-looking front profile of the Dashing PHEV gets a wide grille with segmented gloss black inserts. While the LED DRLs are placed slightly above, the Jetour Dashing PHEV has attractive-looking all-LED headlamps placed slightly below.

The smooth and contoured side profile of the Jetour Dashing PHEV has a different design for the 19-inch machined alloy wheels when compared to the regular Dashing. Apart from this minor tweak, the rest of the side profile and rear look of the Dashing PHEV look exactly the same as the regular Dashing. While the SUV has a curved window-frame design, its rear looks beautiful with the wishbone-shaped striking LED tail lamp clusters.

The Jetour Dashing has the segment-first dual-electricity motor drive, which has been paired with a TSD dual-axle drive and is equipped with an independent suspension setup – Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear. With a softer tune, this suspension setup and dual-axle drive has a comfortable ride quality, with the driving experience further having a fine-tuned feel with three drive modes – Economy, Comfort and Sport. 

The powertrain of the Jetour Dashing PHEV is a combination of a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, an electric motor and a 19.27kWh lithium-ion battery. Jetour claims a maximum power output of 115 bhp and a maximum torque output of 230 Nm for this engine, and in the combined mode, this powertrain churns out a maximum torque output of 545 Nm.

Taking 7 seconds for the 0-100 kmph run, the Jetour Dashing PHEV also delivers a pure-electric range of 100 km from its lithium-ion battery. While the SUV impresses by being both fast and efficient at the same time, its steering lacks the preciseness which it should have at the first place. 

The modern innovative safety features offered in the Jetour Dashing PHEV as standard include adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic assist, 360-degree panoramic visual parking assist, door open warning, lane change warning and tyre pressure monitoring system. This plug-in hybrid SUV also comes equipped with six airbags, hill start assist, hill descent control, ABS with EBD and brake assist, traction control and reverse parking sensors. 

The plug-in hybrid powertrain of the Jetour Dashing PHEV is a complex system, but when it starts doing its job, it surprises with its outstanding performance and economy. With the rest of the design and equipment retained from the standard Dashing, the new Dashing PHEV looks and feels very modern by today’s standards.
