Cabin check: what’s inside the MG G50 Plus

MG Philippines recently launched its multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) offering in the country, the G50 Plus.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How many seats does the MG G50 Plus have?

Depending on the variant, the MG G50 Plus will come with either seven or eight seats.
  • What are some of the notable interior features of the MG G50 Plus?

Notable interior features of the MG G50 Plus include comfortable seats, a driver-oriented cockpit, and decent in-car technology.
  • The rebadged Maxus G50 looks like a fancy family carrier, but what exactly does it offer Filipino car buyers interior-wise? On that note, let us take a look at what is inside the cabin of the MG G50 Plus.

    Comfortable seats

Since the MG G50 Plus is essentially a family car, the SAIC-owned British car brand paid attention to the seating of the MPV.

The MG G50 Plus can be had with seats covered with either fabric or polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The fabric upholstery on the lower trims feels soft while the PVC-covered seats on the range-topping model look stylish and allow would-be owners easier maintenance.

Choosing fabric and PVC materials appear to be ideal choices as these seat covers help keep the cost at a reasonable price while making maintenance straightforward. After all, families will most likely seat kids on the second and third rows, which means morsels of food and splashes of various beverages are common.

Lower trims get manual-adjust front- and second-row seats while the top-of-the-line variant has electric-adjust front- and second-row seats. Across the board, third-row seating is manually operated.

Overall, the seats installed on the MG G50 Plus have ample cushioning that can make both short and long trips comfortable for its occupants.

    Driver-oriented cockpit

Inside the MG G50 Plus is a driver-oriented cockpit with various features and amenities geared toward giving the person behind the wheel relevant driving information when needed.

Greeting the driver is a multi-functional steering wheel wrapped in either polyurethane or leather material to match the seating upholstery offered depending on the MG G50 Plus’ owner’s chosen trim.

On the sporty flat-bottom steering wheel are controls for various functions like adjusting the infotainment system’s volume. To the left side of the driver are keys to move the windows and the door locks. To the right side is a center console that has plenty of storage options and a large enough armrest with deep compartments.

That said, all the buttons and keys needed to be operated while driving the car are easily within reach of the driver. We believe that placing all the aforementioned controls within the driver’s close proximity can help one maintain focus on the road while still enjoying the amenities offered by the seven- and eight-seater MPV.

    Decent tech

At the heart of the MG G50 Plus is a host of decent technological features that aim to make its occupants’ journey a comfortable and convenient one.

Past its steering wheel is a digital multi-information display complemented by a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, Apple Carplay, and Android Auto connectivity features.

Audio is blasted to a set of four or six speakers, depending on the variant.

Occupants sitting at the second-row seats will get their own air conditioning vents to keep them cool during hot days. Those sitting at the bench-type third-row seats will also get ventilation via roof-mounted A/C louvers.

Other notable tech features include remote keyless entry, a push-start button, a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

    Pricing, variants

The MG G50 Plus is offered in three variants: Standard, Comfort, and Luxury. They are priced at P1.048 million, P1.188 million, and P1.288 million, respectively.
