Cabin check: what's inside the Zeekr 001

Zeekr has officially released the 001 in the Philippines. 

In a nutshell, the 001 is poised as an athletic electric vehicle (EV) with its 544-horsepower output rating and its relatively low drag coefficient of 0.23. As such, buyers looking for a luxurious but sporty EV have received yet another option that might suit their needs. 

But what is the Zeekr 001’s interior offering to its prospective buyers? Let’s find out. 

Screens: huge, smart

The Zeekr 001 was fitted with large digital displays to provide a true cockpit feel for its drivers. 

Nestled in the center of its dashboard is its 15.4-inch high-definition infotainment display, while the driver gets an 8.9-inch digital gauge cluster coupled with a heads-up display. In addition, the rear occupants of the 001 can also fiddle with a 5.7-inch touchscreen to control the vehicle’s climate-controlled rear vents, music player, and other vehicle settings. 

Having sizable screens does wonders for legibility. It also presents some advantages to easier usability for folks with larger hands and fingers. 

Apart from being large, Zeekr also ensured that the screens feature a lot of smarts. For starters, it uses a set of 7 nano-meter 8155 Snapdragon chips from Qualcomm. If the name sounds familiar, the said chips are from the same series of processors utilized by Samsung’s lineup of smartphones. 

The aforementioned screens also leverage a total of 16 gigabytes (GB) of memory and 128 GB of high-speed storage. According to the car marque, these components ensure a smooth user experience. The said infotainment system can likewise take voice commands for the vehicle’s climate control system, navigation, and music player. 

Meanwhile, the EV recieved a 12-piece Yamaha speaker system which provides a premium sound experience for occupants. 

Keeping smartphones topped up inside the 001 is likewise made easy as it is equipped with a wireless smartphone charging pad. If the latter isn’t enough, it also has several USB ports and an accessory outlet. 

Slick leather

Inside, the Zeekr 001 was appointed with a plush interior mostly clad in leather. The electronically adjustable sports seats and rear seats are covered in perforated leather, while smooth and supple leather is also present in generous amounts on the vehicle’s center console and interior door cards. 

Adding a more premium feel to the vehicle is its soft micro-fiber headliner. The latter surrounding the vehicle’s wide panoramic sunroof, but the same fabric is also fitted on several bits of the EV’s dashboard. 

In terms of colors, the 001’s interior is available in charcoal black or stone grey. More eye candy is provided by shiny metallic bits, particularly on its flat-bottom steering wheel, center console, and dashboard, among others.

The only potential gripe many buyers might have with the 001 is the use of piano black material around its shifter. This piece may see scratches in the long run, as the shifter is a high-traffic touch point when using the car.  

Luxurious, practical

While the Zeekr 001 is specced as a luxury ride, it has plenty of amenities that make it practical for everyday use. 

Its rear seats, for instance, can be folded flat to provide a total of 2,144-liters of trunk space. The rear seats also come with a 60:40 split functionality for added versatility. More storage can also be found via the vehicle’s door bins and a split-opening center console cubby hole which doubles as an elbow rest. 

For the driver, the 001 provides an electronic parking brake, a multi-function tilt and telescopic power-adjust steering wheel, and a triple-zone climate control system packaged with an N95 air filter. In addition, the front cabin seats have ventilation and massage functions

The Zeekr EV's fragrance system and multi-color ambient lighting system further ensure good vibes inside. The aforementioned interior lighting consists of strategically positioned LED light bars that are individually customizable in color and brightness.

Overall, the Zeekr 001’s interior can deliver the right balance of luxury and practicality. Tech-oriented car buyers may find the EV’s infotainment system appealing, while folks who are looking to use the vehicle daily may appreciate its level of comfort and ample amount of usable space. For those serious about getting the 001, though, it is advisable to give it a thorough test drive.
