Check out the MG 3 hatchback’s 6 color options
From sporty Extreme Speed Red to stealthy Pearl Black, MG 's new offering has color options for everyone
Morris Garages (MG) Philippines has launched the 3 hatchback for the Philippine market. According to the company, the all-new subcompact model might be a perfect fit for first-time car buyers, those looking for a convenient in-city daily driver, or those who are either young or young at heart.
That said, the MG 3 is offered locally with several exterior color options, including St. Moritz Blue, Morning Yellow, Blade Silver, Pearl Black, Andes Grey, or Extreme Speed Red. So which of these colors is right for you? Let’s find out with this short guide.
Morning Yellow
Arguably, Morning Yellow is the signature color of the MG 3. It was the color that the top-spec MG 3 Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) launched in, after all.
On that note, the MG hatch's aforementioned color is one of the most eye-catching, as its brightness makes the vehicle more visible on the road and even when parked.
Being bright, the Morning Yellow color helps the car’s design details pop out. The latter holds true for its two-tone 16-inch alloy wheels, its LED exterior lighting elements, as well as for its black-colored grille and vents.
On the flip side, the shade of its yellowness doesn’t come off as strong. It is more on the mellow side, resulting in a pleasing hue that won’t oversaturate one’s eyes.
Extreme Speed Red
While Extreme Speed Red is a bright color like Morning Yellow, it achieves the opposite effect of being mellow. Instead, it brings out the car's sportiness, making its character lines more visible and its angular lower front bumper more apparent.
It is definitely an attention grabber. Sure, it also makes the car’s exterior features pop out more, but red is often associated with speed, thanks to that one famous exotic car brand from Italy.
The MG 3's shade of red is likewise reminiscent of the same hue made famous by the now legendary MG Midget from the 1960s and, more recently, the fully-electric MG Cyberster fully-electric roadster.
Speaking of sporty, the MG 3 HEV’s powertrain can dish out 188 horsepower and 250 Newton Meters of torque. The kind of output from the MG hatch makes it one of the most powerful in its segment - a plus for those looking for a peppy ride that can provide loads of fun on a lonely back road.
St. Moritz Blue
Another eye-catching hue available to the MG 3 is St. Mortiz Blue. This soft-toned color evokes comfort and relaxation, which the vehicle provides thanks to an array of onboard features.
For its occupants, the vehicle presents a set of cozy fabric and PVC seats, electronic controls for its manual air-conditioning system, and plenty of USB charging ports. Likewise, present aboard the higher-spec MG 3 variants is a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Going back to the car’s exterior, the said blue color option also makes its exterior details more visible. It is, after all, a soft hue that contrasts the darkness of the car’s vents, grille, and wheels.
Blade Silver
The Blade Silver color option for the MG 3 is the type of exterior look one will find useful for going “incognito.” Specifically, it may help the said MG model blend better into traffic as silver is a popular car color in the Philippine market. It is also probably the most neutral shade in the MG 3’s exterior color portfolio. Some may find it less visually impactful than the other colors mentioned, but only a few will find it visually offensive.
That said, it doesn’t quite understate the sharp details of the ride. With a keen eye, the vehicle’s angular front end still pops out thanks to the black contrast between the grille and front vents.
On the other hand, it might diminish the impact of the car’s silver and black alloy wheels.
Andes Grey
Andes Grey for the MG 3 is the slightly darker shaded equivalent of Blade Silver. It is more of the same as the latter, as it gives the car the ability to blend in with traffic while being pleasant to the eyes.
The particular shade used for Andes Grey is likewise inoffensive to most onlookers. On the contrary, it gives the car an understated and quiet look that burgeons on elegance. The aforementioned sentiment is similar to the color options for the MG G50 Plus multi-purpose vehicle, which largely received an array of quiet colors.
Black Pearl
Buyers looking to get the MG 3 in a shadowy stealthy appearance should gravitate towards the Black Pearl color.
Sure, this shade practically hides most of the vehicle's exterior eye candy, but under the right light conditions, it may turn one’s MG hatch into a visually appealing ride capable of letting light reflections dance on its body.
Some car buyers, however, think black can make the car less visible in adverse weather or low-light conditions. But even if the latter were true, the MG 3 does get LED exterior lighting, which is more than enough to keep you safe while traveling through fog, heavy rain, etc.
York White
The MG 3’s York White color option is the polar opposite of Black Pearl. As per its name, it is the brightest color option for the said model. As a result, it does well in highlighting the vehicle’s black-colored details, particularly its grille and lower front bumper vents.
