Here are the Kia Sonet's poetic hues

Kia Philippines recently launched its latest entry into the tightly-contested local crossover category, the Sonet.

The nameplate looks to capture not only a good number for Kia in terms of sales but also the hearts of the younger market segment, which the local arm of the South Korean car brand calls “the practical indulgers.”

So, does the Kia Sonet have the right hues to pique the interests of young millennials? Let’s find out by taking a quick look at the crossover’s six available colors.

Vivid Red

The Kia Stonic looks like a passionate vehicle dressed in Vivid Red. The color could potentially resonate with young car buyers looking for a ride that’s as ardent and zealous as they are.

Giving the compact city conqueror enough power to provide its would-be owners with a spirited drive is a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder gasoline engine that can produce up to 113 horsepower and 144 Newton-meters of torque.

Further, the powertrain is mated to the Hyundai-owned brand’s intelligent variable transmission, which facilitates a smoother and more responsive driving experience while maintaining good fuel economy.

Also available is a six-speed manual transmission, allowing those who prefer to drive — and not be driven — to feel one with the machine.

Snow White Pearl

White is a color often associated with safety. The clean and immaculate vibe brought by the Kia Sonet crossover’s Snow White Pearl finish makes it look like a sound family car.

Kia packed the Sonet with a handful of safety technologies that can make it a safe ride to ferry the wife and the little ones. Standard safety features include a slew of airbags and seatbelts, an anti-lock braking system, a rear camera, parking sensors, child lock-capable doors, and ISOFIX tethers.

Customers looking to drive home the range-topping variant can get more with the Kia Drivewise advanced driver assist system, which adds cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, forward collision avoidance assist, downhill brake control, high beam assist, and driver attention warning.

Imperial Blue

The Kia Sonet might call to the calm and tech-savvy car buyers with its Imperial Blue hue. This color — which symbolizes wisdom and stability — perfectly encapsulates the technological features the crossover can offer.

Past the Kia Sonet’s multi-functional steering wheel is a 10.25-inch instrument cluster that displays relevant driving data to keep the driver informed. Sitting above the dashboard is a similarly-sized (10.25-inch) touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

In addition to the abovementioned connectivity features, the infotainment unit has Bluetooth handsfree with voice recognition technology.

Keeping the driver and the passenger sitting shotgun cool is a single-zone automatic air conditioning, while dedicated louvers help keep those sitting at the back ventilated. A wireless charger prevents the driver from getting tangled up with wired charging cables and a small sunroof gives the Kia Sonet a premium vibe.

Pewter Olive

Arguably one of our favorites, Pewter Olive is a color that gives the Kia Sonet a more rough and rugged appeal.

Contributing to the said look is an abundance of straight lines and aggressive angles that could call out to young car buyers on the lookout for a ride that looks reliable and dependable.

The Kia Sonet wears the latest iteration of the brand’s iconic tiger-nose grille that boasts large honeycomb patterns. Its sculpted cheeks are adorned by Star Map signature LED multi-reflector headlamps paired with the Star Map signature LED daytime running lamps.

Its side profile offers a likewise chiseled appearance complemented by a set of sharp-looking 16-inch alloy wheels.

When it comes to the Kia Sonet’s suspension, it is supported by MacPherson struts at the front and a coupled torsion beam axle at the rear. Stopping power comes from disc brakes, front and back.

Two-tone color options

Like the abovementioned Pewter Olive color, the below two-tone options are reserved only for the Kia Sonet crossover’s top-of-the-line variants.

The first option is Vivid Red with a black roof while the other is Snow White Pearl, also with a black roof. The darkened domes on these color options create a sense of style that tells other road users that you are driving a top-grade Kia Sonet.

The black roof offered by the two-tone finish options blends well with other blacked-out appointments found on the crossover. These include Its black A- and B-pillars, black grille, black wheel wells, black door trims, and black bumper.
