The MG 3 is priced from P678,888-P1.088 million.Designed to compete with the likes of the Toyota Wigo, many Filipino car buyers seem to show a growing interest on the MG 3 — thanks to its appealing list of features and likewise enticing price tag. And to help out those looking to drive home the newly–introduced nameplate, here are its four available variants.
Standard
The base variant of the MG 3 in the country is the standard model.
Outside, it wears a black front grille with LED daytime running lights, halogen headlamps, and halogen front fog lamps housed in a similar black trim.
To its side are power-adjust side mirrors with integrated turn signals and a set of 15-inch steelies.
Its rear end gets halogen taillamps and a high-mount stop lamp.
The cabin of the MG 3 Standard trim gets a polyurethane steering wheel, fabric seats, and door trims finished in a mix of fabric and leather materials. It also has a lever-type parking brake.
Past the aforementioned steering wheel is a seven-inch virtual instrument panel complemented by a radio unit.
Under its hood is a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated gasoline engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. It makes some 118 horsepower (hp) with 150 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.
Stopping power comes from ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. It is supported by MacPherson struts (front) and a torsion beam setup (rear).
Safety-wise, it offers would-be owners a decent list, which includes seatbelts and airbags, an anti-lock braking system, vehicle stability control, rear parking sensors, and an engine immobilizer.
Comfort
Customers who want more features can move up the ladder with the MG 3 Comfort variant. It offers what the Standard grade has and more, starting with a rear spoiler, an electronic parking brake system, and an inclusive luggage tray.
However, the most noticeable upgrades are its 16-inch alloy wheels and 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
When it comes to safety, it also gets additional technologies like hill start assist, a reverse camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
It also drops the five-speed manual gearbox in exchange for a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Power figures are still the same.
Luxury
The MG 3 Luxury variant ups the ante with upmarket appointments.
Looking to impress, it now wears LED headlamps and sports power-folding side mirrors. The seats are also now swathed with Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) and fabric while the steering wheel is wrapped in leather. Rear vents are also provided for those sitting at the back.
Safety is also given priority as the range-topping internal combustion engine-only model gets a pre-collision system, lane departure alert, lane watch, and lane keep assist.
Hybrid
Filipino car buyers now get another option when it comes to owning an eco-friendly mover as MG PH brings in a hybrid variant of its hatchback.
The powertrain consists of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with a three-speed hybrid transmission. The setup pushes some 187 hp with up to 250 Nm of pulling power.
In terms of features, it basically adopts the specifications of the MG 3 Luxury variant.
