Increasing the retro theme: Suzuki AU unveils Jimny Heritage Edition

The latest Suzuki Jimny is absolutely dripping with classic design elements. With its squared-off analog instrument cluster and boxy, upright body, the modern Jimny transports you back to the 1980s while still providing modern conveniences. However, the people at Suzuki Australia chose to expand on the retro motif.

2023 Suzuki Jimny Heritage Edition

There, the business recently unveiled the 2023 Suzuki Jimny Heritage Edition. It features orange and pink side stripes, a design characteristic of 4x4s from an era before the name "SUV" was invented. Red mud flaps and the iconic Jimny logo are also included, as are the quarter panels. It’s merely an appearance package more than anything else, but when it looks this funky, who’s complaining?

As of this writing, there are no interior images of the Jimny Heritage Edition yet. However, we anticipate that the tiny 4x4's inside will feature some of the same hues as its outside. The "Heritage Edition" cargo tray, automated climate control, and touchscreen infotainment are currently known features of the 4x4.

The only available transmission for this vehicle is a five-speed manual, in keeping with the aesthetic and even the drivetrain of vintage 4x4s. The rest of its mechanical components, including its 1.5-liter engine and locking differentials, are carried over from the ordinary Jimny.

Suzuki will probably not release a Heritage Edition for the Philippine market, but that won't stop local Jimny fans — such as owners and owners-to-be — from retro-fying their little SUVs themselves, of course. And if you want a Suzuki Jimny, here are its qualities that you should know.

Suzuki Jimny Design

You might assume that the Jimny is too small in comparison to other common off-road vehicles. As you can see, Suzuki logically made this vehicle smaller so that it may fit through narrow mountain trails that are inaccessible to off-road vehicles with large tires.

Although it cuts a small profile, the Suzuki Jimny still manages to give off a muscular and rugged look. The roof is installed with a drip rail to prevent any leakage when driving in rainy weather. The Jimny also sports a pair of round LED headlamps which are equipped with washers for better visibility when passing through muddy and dusty terrains.

Suzuki Jimny Interior

When driving across rocky terrain, the Jimny's horizontal instrument panel can be used as a reference point to control the angle of the vehicle. To keep the serious off-roading vibe, the interior highlights concentrate around a straightforward color scheme made up of black, chrome, white, and red.

Off-road features like clinometer, compass, altimeter, and barometer are also included on the vehicle's nine-inch touchscreen multimedia audio display.

Suzuki Jimny Performance

Under the Jimny’s hood is a compact but powerful 1.5-liter K15B engine. The top trims use a four-speed automatic transmission, while the base variant’s engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

The Suzuki Jimny uses a four-wheel-drive system for a smoother off-road performance, but it can be shifted to two-wheel drive for lower fuel consumption.

Suzuki Jimny Safety

The Jimny is equipped with Suzuki’s safety technologies to boost the driver’s confidence on the road. It has hill hold control and hill descent control features for better stability when driving through steep slopes. Suzuki Jimny also uses a pedal release system on the brake and clutch. Suzuki further guarantees the protection of all the Jimny’s occupants with the help of its additional modern safety features including an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability program (ESP), brake assist function, reverse parking camera, and reverse parking sensor.
