Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV: The hybrid SUV that has it all
Since its world debut in 2013, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has been the most popular plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. Aside from being a practical SUV, the Outlander PHEV is also best known for its innovative hybrid technology.
The Outlander PHEV combines the eco-friendly and quiet performance of a PHEV with the off-road capability of a 4WD and dependable power of an SUV. The vehicle features a modern PHEV system that uses an electric Twin Motor 4WD, a fuel-efficient 2.4-liter MIVEC engine, and advanced power management system that provide an optimum performance, silence, and smoothness on ay road condition.
The vehicle’s Super All Wheel Control (SAWC) works with the Twin Motor 4WD to convey optimum torque and traction to each wheel. The PHEV also comes with three different drive modes that help the rear motor generate responsive acceleration, stability, and control. The Normal mode is recommended for dry paved roads, while the Sport mode is for dry winding roads. The driver can select the Lock mode when maneuvering through rough dirt and gravel roads.
The Outlander PHEV can be conveniently charged by connecting it to a power outlet at home for around 5.5 hours using the onboard charger and charging cable. A quick charger is also available at commercial charging facilities to recharge the battery to up to 80% capacity in as fast as 25 minutes.
The Outlander PHEV features a sporty stance that is accentuated by sleek LED headlamps and an aerodynamic shape. It is also designed with a dynamic shield concept fascia, electric tailgate, and electric sunroof.
On the inside, the Outlander PHEV is equipped with a large eight-inch touch screen where you can operate music playback and calls. It can also be linked to a smartphone through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, allowing the driver to conveniently access mobile apps. The cabin also comes with an Energy Monitor that allows the driver to check relevant vehicle information at a glance.
To ensure that all occupants are safe and protected while on the road, the Outlander PHEV is equipped with advanced safety features such as forward collision mitigation system (FCM), ultrasonic mitigation system (UMS), adaptive cruise control (ACC), blind spot warning system (BSW), and rear cross traffic alert (RCTA). It is also equipped with a multi-around monitor to make parking easier and safer.
