10th PEVS: Hyundai Motor PH sets up Ioniq 5-powered cafe

MANILA: Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) participated at the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City from October 20 to 21.

Hyundai recently joined the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), an organization with the mission of promoting the use of electric vehicles in the Philippines by raising public awareness, accelerating society's adoption, and collaborating with the government and other institutions.

Hyundai Motor Company marks 2021 as its first year towards electrification. It is committed to leading the way in the industry and has established goals for clean mobility. There will be a total of 23 environmentally friendly Hyundai models available by 2025. The target is one million units and a 10% market share, with 30% of sales coming from Asia-Pacific.

The local tagline of HMPH is an invocation to develop cutting-edge products and programs that will enhance Filipinos' quality of life. Under the brand concept of "Progress for Humanity," it seeks to be an instrument for reviving travel pleasure and making the most out of time when driving.

This pursuit for sustainability aims to empower individuals yearning for a green world that they can be in charge of living out change starting with our Ioniq 5,"  HMPH Deputy General Manager for Marketing Mark Parulan stated.

Ioniq is Hyundai's first fully electric range of futuristic, eco-friendly models. Its first model is the Ioniq 5, a midsize SUV that made its world debut in 2021 and was initially unveiled in the country at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) in September.

"Its signature look is definitely special and hard to miss. Though not only is it a mere display, but also the source powering up the cafe here at our booth. This is made possible via its V2L functionality which we urge visitors to check and learn first-hand. Don’t miss this chance and grab a freshly brewed cup," Parulan added.

V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) allows users to store and convert energy to power various equipment, such as coffee machine, microwave, electric bike, and other devices. Designed to enhance the owners' convenience on and off the road, the vehicle can act as a 3.6kW power source for camping, emergencies, or relief efforts.

The Ioniq 5 is the triple-crown winner of the 2022 World Car Awards — an achievement that no other electric vehicle has made so far. It was hailed as the World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle of the Year, and World Car Design of the Year.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be officially launched in the Philippines in 2023.
