2016 Rio Olympics Official Vehicle Nissan Kicks Unveiled
MANILA: The Nissan Kicks kicked-off its journey as a concept in 2014, and since then the brand has assured a production version of the same. Now, the production version is finally unveiled after being spotted in Brazil, and the timing couldn't have been much better, right at the time of Rio Olympics.
The new Kicks crossover will also be represented as the official automobile of the 2016 Summer Olympics in order to boost its sales in Latin America. Hardly deviated on its journey from concept to production, the final version boasts the brand's “Emotional Geometry” design language and closely resembles its concept version. Designed by the teams of California and Brazil, this new Nissan crossover is perfect for city-dwellers. You can find the same boomerang headlights as well as taillights, contrasting floating roof, blacked out pillars along with the company's V-motion grille and bolstered wheel arches, which were present in the previous generation as well. However, the overall styling and contouring seem to be less dramatic than what is expected from Nissan.
Complementing its exterior, the interior is the most appealing and pleasing which you have never seen in the Japanese vehicles before. Dual-tone, gray-orange leather interior features a unique design with a center stack that gives a look of tablet embedded in it. With its class-leading cabin area, as well as the boot space, the production model will also have the latest features like Around View Monitor and Moving Object Detection, which will be seen first time in this segment.
Today is that special day when the Kicks will actually roll on the pavement of brazil where it will contribute in starting the official Olympic Torch Relay in Rio. Further, the car will continue rolling along with the athletes on the route to motivate them throughout the track.
The Brazilian-inspired crossover will be produced at the Nissan's Mexico plant in Aguascalientes and is likely to go on sale first in Brazil and will eventually grace more than 80 global markets. So we are quite sure that the Kicks will make its way in the country and looking at the latest launches in the Philippines auto industry, the launch won't be that far away.
