2016 Volkswagen Tiguan seen in Official Sketches
MANILA: The Volkswagen marque has just released two sketches of the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan and seeing the images, we can say that with sophisticated looks, it has gone smarter. Sitting on the much newer MQB platform, the dimensions are expected to grow slightly with opening up of shorter front and rear overhangs which would result into increase in cabin and cargo space.
The front end looks impressive with VW's latest grille layout and boxy headlights which merge to form one unit. The black trim on the lower sections of the body with huge wheel arches and the roof rails on the top give it a true SUV character. Moreover, with the use of more advanced methods and materials of construction, the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan is expected to be 70 kg slimmer which would positively impact fuel economy, performance and agility.
Powering this second generation Volkswagen would be a range of petrol and diesel engines which might include 1.8-litre TSI and 2.0-litre TDI. The R variant engine type with almost 300 hp is also expected to be in pipeline along with a petrol-hybrid GTE model too. Interestingly, with three rows offering space for seven passengers, the 2016 Tiguan is slated to begin by the end of 2016 so that by 2017 it can come on roads of every country excluding China and Europe. Other official details and specs of this 2016 Volkswagen will be released in the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.
