2017 Chevrolet Trax is Ready, Know How it's Different from the 2016 Trax
MANILA: Early facilitate is a rare event in the auto industry and there are few registered cars that have witnessed such a premature refreshment. Chevrolet Trax launch took place last October in the Philippines auto market and since then it is considered as a prospective choice for crossover buyers. The 2017 Chevrolet Trax is now out and the company is currently busy showing off Trax new better-looking sibling. Chevrolet didn't hint anything about 2017 Trax launch, but the press release from Chevrolet confirmed a 2016 Chicago Auto Show debut of the revamped sibling.
So, day after tomorrow on 13th February 2016, the world will witness a brand new Chevrolet Trax. The 2017 model is enabled with some never seen before design language that can be also seen in the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze hatchback, which was recently revealed at the Detroit Auto Show. Back in 2015 when Tax was launched in the Philippines, it was considered to give a tough competition for same time launched Nissan Juke. Now the question is, if someday the 2017 Trax comes to the Philippines, will the Juke be able to absorb its revamped effect?
Will the answer for this depends on the changes the new Trax has received in specific, their strength to impact the competitors’ sales, or is it so weak that can even go unnoticed. Below we have created a list of changes that we think are good enough and will help it giving a strong foothold in the highly riff-ridden auto market.
1. Cute to Steamy
The 2016 model was more on the cute side, it carried that bubbly round look that made it look smaller, even though the dimension sheet told an entirely different story. The 2017 Trax exterior, on the other hand, carries all the flairs and boldness, helping it look more like a long strong crossover. The boxy headlamps are now replaced by swept-back narrow ones that come integrated with LED daytime running lights (limited to top model). The new dual-port grille and fog lamp case compared to the present one looks more angular and aggressive, better than before in short. The side profile is added with broader black cladding and rear end too reflects bits of the new design language.
2. Interior gets Tech Up-gradation
Nice huh, tech up-gradation is a good thing and it never fails to bring a smile on one's face. To the long list of tech hike are included things benefiting both the driver and co-passengers. The driver's arena now gets a modified instrument binnacle with the same three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel. Another minute difference that we noticed was the shape of side air-con vents that went from circular to more parallelogram-like. Dashboard design has also undergone some major changes, so now we will get to see free-flow dash rather than a partitioned one.
3. Connectivity at its Best
Trax 2017 comes integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, enhancing its utility front by manifold. In addition, it now comes paired with 4G LTE connection with Wi-Fi hotspot, enabling the system to connect to as many as seven personal devices.
4. Added Safety Features
Passive and active, both safety fronts are enhanced, making the new Trax safer than ever. To be specific, the Chevrolet new crossover now includes ten standard airbags, rearview camera, side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision alert, and lane departure warning.
All this prove how different and how better the 2017 Chevrolet Trax is from the current ongoing model. As for the Philippines launch don't expect anything before mid-2016, but still no harm in wishing for an early launch, as you never know when those unheard wishes get answered.
