2020 Honda CR-V gets an extensive hybrid lineup
MANILA: One of the most potent rivals of the hybrids models of the Toyota RAV4 and Ford Escape, the Honda CR-V Hybrid has, at last, been launched in the USA following its unveiling that took place in September 2019. Available in four different variants, the 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid now features the automaker's innovative two-motor hybrid technology, Honda Sensing®, and Real-Time AWD as part of the standard equipment. Also, the CUV (crossover utility vehicle) boasts upgraded battery performance, which in result, extends the electric-only range of the car.
Speaking of the equipment on-board, the 2020 Honda CR-V gets LED headlights, smart entry with push-button start/stop 5-lamp LED fog lights, up to 19-inch alloy wheels, cargo cover, 60/40-split second-row seat, digital gauge cluster with a power flow meter, and many other modern-day features and creatures comforts. Powering the 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid is a 2.0-litre DOHC i-VTEC® Atkinson-cycle engine that works in tandem with a two-motor hybrid system that incorporates a propulsion motor and a generator/starter motor. The total system output reads 212 hp of maximum power.
As we mentioned earlier, the CUV now gets Honda's Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System™. The powertrain on the CUV works in three different modes, namely, EV Drive, Hybrid Drive, and Engine Drive depending on the situation. Also, the driver can choose from the Sport, EV, and ECON modes to get the most out of CR-V's hybrid powertrain. Speaking more of the Honda's Real Time AWD, the system determines the driving conditions and powers the rear wheels in low traction conditions, whereas an electronically controlled clutch is used to stop sending power to the rear wheels when not needed. As a result, this further improves fuel efficiency.
Furthermore, the 2020 Honda CR-V comes with the Honda Sensing® safety suite that brings along the likes of the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and pedestrian sensing capability, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with low-speed follow and Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), blind-spot information, Rear Cross Traffic Monitor, and Auto High Beam headlights.
