2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport set to come out on July 25

MANILA: The SUV segment in Thailand is about to bloat. No, there is no new SUV coming in. A refresh Mitsubishi Montero Sport is just around the corner, though. Called the Pajero Sport in Thailand, the Japanese SUV has enjoyed a fair bit of success in probably every market that has been a part of ever since its inception. In an invitation sent by Mitsubishi Motors Thailand, the debut date for the 2020 Montero Sport is revealed to be July 25, 2019.

We expect the all-new Mitsubishi Montero Sport to flaunt a front end very similar to that of the Strada pickup truck, which is dubbed as Triton in other markets. With that said, the front fascia of the SUV should come featuring a two-tier headlamp setup, sporty bumper, bolder grille, and elements similar to the Strada. The side profile of the SUV should remain more or less the same, albeit with a set of redesigned alloy wheels. Moving on to the rear end, the 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport should boast LED taillights and a revamped bumper.

While no information is available about the interior of the upcoming SUV, something that’s quite evident is the carry forward of the current powertrain. The same 4N15 MIVEC turbodiesel motor should be powering the 2020 Mistusbishi Montero as well. Both the six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic transmissions are also expected to be offered by the automaker. Irrespective of the change in terms of the powertrain, a few technical and mechanical updates should make their way to the refreshed SUV.

The third generation Mitsubishi Montero Sport has been doing very good in the Philippine market since its launch in 2016 and we believe that Mitsubishi Philippines will bring the newest iteration of the SUV in the country soon after the launch in Thailand. As an end note, we’d say we are pretty excited for the unveiling of the 2020 Mitsubishi Montero and bet that you too are just as eager to see the refreshed SUV in the flesh.
