2020 Suzuki XL6 launched in India, will it arrive here?
MANILA: Just over a fortnight ago, we covered a story on Suzuki's MPV XL6. Based on the ever so popular 2019 Suzuki Ertiga, the all-new XL6 is finally out. The Japanese automaker has launched what is said to be a premium high-riding MPV in India. Also, the 2020 Suzuki XL6 will take on the likes of the Honda BR-V, Toyota Rush, and Mitsubishi Xpander in various markets. Unlike the three other Japanese MPVs that are all seven-seater vehicles, the 2020 Suzuki XL6 features a six-seat arrangement. More on the seating arrangement later.
As we have already mentioned earlier and even in the previous story, the 2020 Suzuki XL6 comes based on the seven-seater Ertiga. Besides the similarities that the two MPVs possess, there are ample differences that differentiate the XL6 from the Ertiga.
Dimension wise, the 2020 Suzuki XL6 stands at 4445 mm long, 1775 mm wide, and 1700 mm tall. Speaking of the exterior, the 2020 Suzuki XL6 boasts an SUV-like appearance due to its raised hood, large & wide grille, skid plates at both front & back, sporty bumpers, roof-rails, black body cladding, large LED headlamps, 18-inch blacked-out alloy wheels, and a blacked-out trim that connects the two taillights at the rear.
There is no dual-tone trend on the inside of the 2020 Suzuki XL6 as the cabin features an all-black setup. While the all-black interior enhances the sporty quotient, various silver elements, faux wood grain trim pieces, and other elements with a stone-like finish push the premium-ness up. The seating arrangement on the high-riding MPV incorporates captain seats for both the first and the second row.
The third row, on the other hand, features a traditional bench seat. One-touch recline and slide mechanism makes the process of getting inside and outside of the MPV a walk in the park. On a side note, the captain seats in the second row get fixed headrests instead of the adjustable ones like in the first row. Other features on the inside of the 2020 Suzuki XL6 include a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system, multiple charging points, front & rear air-conditioning, and leather upholstery among others.
Powering the 2020 Suzuki XL6 is the same 1.5-liter four-pot gasoline mill that we have already seen on the Ertiga. The specs sheet reads 103 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 138 Nm. Customers can go for either of the five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission options. The slim segment that includes the Honda BR-V, Mitsubishi Xpander, and the Toyota Rush should entice Suzuki to launch the 2020 XL6 in the Philippines as well, and we await that moment eagerly.
