2020 Toyota C-HR GR Sport looks dapper with updated features
MANILA: Toyota just unveiled a dapper C-HR crossover in Japan, similar to the one recently launched in Europe and North America. But as always, the Japanese automaker always puts extra to its domestic home market that we would probably not find in any other global markets. The most exciting about the update is the C-HR GR Sport model developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing.
Available as single-item options or as a sport-themed trim level, the C-HR GR sport range not only makes the C-HR looks aggressive with performance-enhancing trims but also adds a gamut of mechanical upgrades. All of which are available on both the turbo petrol and petrol-electric hybrid versions of Toyota’sToyota’s crossover.
The GR Sport body kit includes a front bumper with an aggressive grille that dominates the front of the car with a horizontal bar above that features the GR emblem on the corner. There is also an under guard, large fog lamp bezels, front fenders and tailgate, a stainless steel “dress-up” muffler set with quad tips, and 19” dual-tone alloy rims wrapped with 225/45 R19 tires. Customers can select from a wide-range of C-HR GR Sport colors—11 to be exact, including five two-tone color options with black-painted roof and A-pillars.
For the interiors, the C-HR GR Sport comes with a sports steering wheel coupled with sports seats that can be wrapped in cloth-suede combination trim.
Despite the racetrack-ready look, there is not much modification in terms of the powertrain. The C-HR GR Sport still comes with a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine that delivers 114 hp of power and 185 Nm of torque or a 1.8-litre two-engine hybrid with 97 hp of power and 142 Nm torque petrol engine paired with a 71Hp power and 142Nm torque electric motor mated with either a six-speed manual or CVT automatic. But performance-upgrading features include a center brace for improved rigidity and adjustments to the suspension and steering for more focused handling.
Pricing in Japan for 2020 Toyota C-HR GR Sport price starts at ¥2,732,000 (Php1.29M) for the ST GR Sport with the 1.2-litre turbo petrol and manual transmission.
