All-new Suzuki Jimny details and images leaked

MANILA: Suzuki’s darling compact off-roader is set to get an update soon. This information was leaked last year when someone took screen grabs of the presentation and released it on the interweb. However, the 2019 Jimny is based on a new and lighter body-on-frame chassis that has already been unveiled through a set of spy images captured during its commercial shoot. Following this, few details were also released online. Here is what the fourth-generation car will be all about.

The Suzuki’s Jimny’s dimensions are unlikely to be changed much. From the look of it, Suzuki seems to have gone in for a new-old, or as they call it, neo-retro look for the SUV. Take a glance at the headlamps, while they follow a classic theme, they are tuned with projector LEDs, DRLs too are LEDs. The grille is an upright unit with black detailing to it. In this particular colour, Jimny looks like the mighty G-Wagen. Bigger wheels are expected on this hard-top trim that was spotted recently,  while there will be a soft-top version of this 3-door SUV, as well.

The cabin is said to feature modern amenities like a touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, height adjustable driver’s seat, power windows, and a host of safety features. Most of these are shared components from the all-new Swift. Suzuki will introduce the Jimny with a 600cc petrol engine whereas there will be an option of a 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre turbo as well as naturally aspirated motor. A choice of 5-speed manual, as well as an automatic with four gates, will be there. And there will be a Suzuki’s own version of the all-wheel drive, AllGrip.

The Suzuki Jimny will be unveiled to the public on July 5, 2018. Sales should start first in Japan followed by other countries.
