Auto Expo 2020: New Hyundai Creta aka iX25 unveiled, will it make it to the PH?
MANILA: A couple of days ago, Hyundai teased the Indian-spec second-generation Creta. And now, the revisited compact SUV has been uncovered at the Auto Expo 2020 that is transpiring at the India Exposition Mart Ltd. in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. In its second-generation, the 2020 Hyundai Creta dons a radically upgraded design language and shares engines with the newly introduced Kia Seltos.
Starting with the design, the 2020 Hyundai Creta features boomerang-style LED DRLs and LED headlamps flanking a cascading grille. Unlike the new model, the outgoing Creta flaunted a three-slat front grille. The side profile is then bolstered by the likes of large 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, chrome door handles, and sporty roof rails. Moving to the rear end of the updated compact SUV, we find the second-generation Creta showing off a brand-new sporty and muscular rear end with a light bar and split taillamps.
While Hyundai tried to keep the interior of the new Creta a mystery, it was still spied by photographers at the mega event, and we have even got our hands an image of the refreshed SUV's cabin. At first glance, the whole interior layout is a completely new setup and seems to be featuring all the modern-day tech and creature comforts that one will ever need. There is a brand-new flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, semi-digital instrument cluster, sunroof, large touchscreen infotainment system that is possible 10.25-inch in size, electronic parking brake, new gear knob, and redesigned climate controls. Also, Hyundai has now placed the central air-con vents above the touchscreen infotainment system.
As we mentioned before, the 2020 Hyundai Creta for India gets the same engine options like the Kia Seltos. With that said, the second-generation model will be available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, 1.5-litre diesel engine, and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. While all three engines can be had with the same 6-speed manual transmission, the automatic transmission options are different for each engine. The 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel, and the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol get a CVT, 6-speed AT, and a 7-speed DCT, respectively. The Hyundai Creta is a renowned SUV in the Indian automobile market and shouldn't find it difficult to allure even more customers with the major update. Besides, the likes of the Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier, Renault Captur, and MG Hector will be eager to give the second-gen Creta a tough fight.
Since Kia Seltos is now in the Philippines, and there are also other competitors in the segment that is experiencing a surge, we won't mind Hyundai to bring in the all-new second-gen Creta aka iX25 to the Pearl of the Orient, would we?
