BAIC M60: Features explained
It seems that lately, BAIC has gained quite some popularity in the Philippines. Being among the largest vehicle-makers in China, BAIC has now got a handful of products to offer in our country; commercial vehicles, mini-vans, 5-seater, 7-seater, you name it. Today we’re going to discuss some of the key features of the company's most premium vehicle available in the local market, the BAIC M60.
BAIC M60 exterior features
Exotic front grille
BAIC has provided the M60 an exotic front grille. It isn’t something brand-new, but it does get the job done. The shape of the front grille is similar to what we’ve seen on many Lexus cars. Anyway, the grille makes the M60 look more premium and enhances its road presence. It has a chrome surround which gives a good contrast to the horizontal black slats in the bottom part of the bumper. And of course, the BAIC logo in the centre is so big that you can’t ignore it.
Projector headlamps and DRL
The design of the headlamps of the BAIC M60 is likeable. They are suitable for the overall appearance of this 7-seater SUV. The projector headlamps have a good throw and provide greater illumination in the dark. And they look pretty cool also.
BAIC has incorporated a decent-size strip of LEDs at the bottom portion of the headlamps. These are daytime running lights. They give the M60 a modern look.
Integrated turn signals
Another premium feature of the BAIC M60 is its integrated turn signals in the outside rearview mirrors. This might be a trivial feature for some but it is features like these that enhances the overall premium-ness of a vehicle. And we applaud BAIC for not skimming on such small features.
Large tail lights
The M60 is quite a long car. It had to be, as it’s a 7-seater. And for a car of such dimensions, it’s important to have adequate size lights. BAIC has done just that. The rear of the M60 has got a couple of large tail lights. These are two-piece combination units that cover up a good amount of space and thus not only enhances the appearance of the car but also its visibility to others who are behind.
BAIC M60 interior features
Digital instrument cluster
This is one of the best interior features of the BAIC M60. It tells us what BAIC is capable of making. The digital instrument cluster is very nicely put together. On one side there is the engine temp and a few tell-tale lights, and on the other side, it shows the fuel level and a few more tell-tale lights. In the centre is the speedometer and tachometer along with other necessary details.
9-inch LCD touchscreen
In the centre of the dashboard is a big 9-inch LCD touchscreen display to care of your entertainment needs. It supports Bluetooth and USB connectivity. We would have liked to see even the latest Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.
Rear AC vents
Making sure the passengers at the rear are receiving conditioned air, BAIC has provided rear AC vents. These are located on the ceiling of the car and easily cover even the last row seats.
Rear captain seats
We all know how comfortable captain seats are. BAIC has provided them in the rear which makes the M60 even more special. Both the captain seats come with individual armrests. Seated in any one of them is definitely going to make your long journey more enjoyable and comfortable.
BAIC M60 engine
Go through the BAIC M60 specs and you’d find that this large 7-seater SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre engine which has been tuned to churn out 147 hp at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 210 Nm which kicks in at 2000 to 4500 rpm. The engine is mated to a CVT unit for the power transmission duties. That’s the only transmission option you get with the M60, no manual.
So, these were some of the interesting features of the BAIC M60. Out of these which one is your favorite? The BAIC M60 price in the Philippines is Php 998,000, and it is available in two colors - red and white.
