BYD is PH's best-selling NEV brand for 2024

MANILA: BYD Cars Philippines sold 4,780 units in 2024 — allowing it to corner one-percent share of the country’s overall vehicle sales and secure the 11th spot.

In a statement, the ACMobility-led automotive distributor shared that the said volume reflected an 8,900-percent growth compared to the brand's local 2023 sales performance.

It also gave BYD a commanding 82-percent share of the new energy vehicle (NEV) market last year.

Sales breakdown

According to the vehicle distributor, 2,078 units that they were able to sell were BYD’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) models namely:

Seagull	Atto 3	Han
Dolphin	Seal	Tang

These nameplates helped BYD corner 69 percent of the BEV market.

Meanwhile, the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i alone sold the remaining 2,669 units sold in 2024. Additionally, ACMobiity added that the aforementioned model was also the best-selling model in the combined NEV and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) segments, with a 19-percent market share in July-December 2024.

Top-selling BYD models

As mentioned above, the BYD Sealion 6 is the marque’s best-selling model for the year, taking 14.6 percent of the overall Compact-SUV market in 2024 and a 25.9 percent market share in the same segment from July to December last year.

Trailing it is the BYD Atto 3 with 1,062 units rolled out to clients — leading the sales race in the electrified subcompact crossover arena for the previous year.

Taking the third spot in the BYD list is the Seagull with 411 units delivered to customers in 2024. Introduced in the Philippines only in September last year, the BYD Seagull had a 38% share of the BEV segment in the last quarter of 2024 while taking 14% of the overall BEV market for the whole year.

Aggressive network expansion

BYD Cars Philippines also attributed the rapid growth to its aggressive expansion efforts.

From just two, the company was able to close 25 dealerships nationwide. Following that, the firm is eyeing to further raise the number to 52 within the year.

“The growing network of BYD dealerships and service centers and ACMobility’s expanding footprint of EV charging stations across the country are part of the dynamic ecosystem ACMobility envisions in supporting and encouraging the country’s transition towards electric mobility,” Palanca explained.
