Its large footprint and crossover-styled design elements give it a demanding road presence. From the front, this vehicle seems to be a mashup of edgy elements and curves, with a sleek hexagonal grille that has attractive chrome touches on the outer edges, and below its lower edges, it has boomerang-shaped chrome elements. The authoritative look of the front fascia is elevated by the edgy full LED headlamps. Its front fascia seems to be inspired by the dragon’s powerful face. This electric SUV’s sporting silhouette is defined by intricate details and flowing lines along with 21" alloy wheels. With its wide-opening doors and long wheelbase, BYD TANG ensures you travel in style wherever you go.
From the side, it looks more rounded and has ditched the seven-seater conventional SUV roots. The angular D and A-pillars have given the vehicle a modern touch, while around the side windows chrome surrounds and the doors' lower portion give a premium touch to the vehicle.
The BYD Tang has a spacious cabin that can easily fit up to 7 people. It has top-of-the-line materials including European wood, Nappa leather, and space-grade aluminum. It is also very comfortable and the passenger and driver seats have massage features and leg rests. The dual-tone tan and black finished interiors give the cabin a premium and rich look, while on the dashboard the faux wood dark black texture and the center console’s lower portion uplift the vehicle’s luxury ambiance. The panoramic sunroof above is massive and in the second and first rows, the cabin feels very spacious, however, for adults the third row can be a bit claustrophobic with limited legroom and knee room. The BYD Tang is equipped with many high-end amenities that enhance the driving experience. Aside from a good radar system and cruise control, there is also cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assistant, and blind spot detection.
How spacious is it?
The BYD Tang offers a spacious 7-seater layout to meet the needs of large families. In the second row, there is generous space meaning all the passengers can travel in luxury without making any compromises with the third-row space. Should you buy the BYD Tang?
The BYD Tang impresses with its modern and elegant design. It comes with a comfortable and spacious interior. Its responsive, powerful engine and advanced technologies make it the best in its segment. It also offers excellent value for money, making it an attractive and affordable choice. It also has some flaws. The semi-autonomous driving system of this vehicle can be improved, as it is not always precise and reliable. It could also offer more modularity and customization options.
What are my alternatives?

Other things to consider
The BYD Tang is a high-performing, economical, and comfortable electric car. The pick-ups are very efficient and accelerations are brisk, even at high speed. The Tang is stable and agile, with an excellent balance between the wheels and good road holding. The braking is also progressive and reassuring, with excellent energy recovery. The soundproofing enhances the comfort factor isolating the passengers and driver from outside noise. The cabin is spacious, with a good legroom and ceiling height. However, its big turning radius which is around 5.9m may pose some difficulty in city maneuverability. In comparison to other SUVs of this dimension, the Tang has an authoritative presence on the road.

BYD Tang Interior & Features
The BYD Tang comes with a dual-tone black and grey cabin theme, with the golden orange theme for the seats and door upholstery livening the ambience of the cabin and making it look youthful. The overall layout of the dashboard has a layered theme towards the centre console, where the Tang has a massive 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system.
The two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, which has wide spokes with gloss black and silver garnish, also has a wide 12.3-inch trapezoidal full-TFT instrument console. The golden orange-coloured seats of the Tang are finished in Nappa leather and are electrically adjustable with leg rests, with the driver’s seat also getting memory function.
The three-row BYD Tang is feature-packed with amenities like ventilated and heated front seats with massage function, foldable second and third-row seats, tri-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, 12-speaker Dynaudio music system, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and a few storage spaces. And while the space in first and second-row seats is good enough, the third-row seats lack under-thigh support.
Tang Exterior
Compared to the previous versions of the BYD Tang, this facelifted second-generation version looks the sleekest and has a modern aura all around its exterior profile. The front profile of the BYD Tang looks more in line with other offerings from the brand, including a sleek and slanted chrome garnish strip that stretches between the angular trapezoidal headlamp housings that come with LED projectors and sleek LED DRLs.
The BYD Tang gets subtle chrome highlights, including the chrome strip across the front bumper, chrome surrounds for the window frame, chrome lower door garnish and boot lid garnish, all of which contribute to its premium appeal. Also enhancing the premium appeal of the Tang are its 21-inch alloy wheels. At the back, the BYD Tang has stretched LED tail lamps with LED connecting light bars and sequential LED turn indicators.
BYD Tang Ride & Handling
With Macpherson struts at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear, the BYD Tang comes with the brand’s DiSus-C system, which gives it four driving modes – Eco, Normal, Sport and Snowfield. With this soft-tuned suspension setup and an all-wheel-drive system, the BYD Tang delivers a smooth and comfortable ride quality, while also ensuring maximum grip levels at higher speeds, which only gets better with the large 21-inch wheels.
Tang Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Philippines-spec BYD Tang comes standard with the dual-motor configuration, with the front motor producing 244 bhp and 350 Nm and the rear motor producing 271 bhp and 350 Nm. Equipped with this dual-motor setup that gives it an all-wheel drive configuration, the BYD Tang can reach a top speed of 190 kmph and can do the 0-100 kmph sprint in 4.9 seconds, making it one of the fastest electric SUVs in its category. The 108.8kWh LFP battery pack of the Tang delivers a range of 530 km (WLTP-certified).
BYD Tang Braking & Safety
The Tang comes with BYD’s DiPilot suite of ADAS features, the list of which comprises adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking system, front and rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear cross-traffic braking, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera and head-up display. The standard safety net of BYD Tang also includes features like eight airbags, traction control, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, hill descent control and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Tang Verdict
BYD has been nailing the tech part in its latest-generation products, which come with world-class battery and motor specifications, and the Tang is no different. Packing in the latest tech, the BYD Tang delivers a good three-row vehicle experience with a plush interior and ride quality and versatility of an MPV in a crossover-SUV profile.
