Electrified Bentley Flying Spur Mulliner debuts at Monterey Car Week in California
MANILA: Bentley Mulliner has officially unveiled the new Flying Spur Mulliner at the prestigious Monterey Car Week in California, USA. This four-door luxury grand tourer is Mulliner’s first electrified Bentley.
The new Flying Spur Mulliner features a technically advanced V6 hybrid powertrain and elegant detailing. It combines first-class craftsmanship with breathtaking luxury.
Considered as “the most luxurious Flying Spur to date,” the new Flying Spur Mulliner was developed by Bentley Mulliner and was crafted and engineered in Great Britain. As the new flagship model of Bentley, the Flying Spur Mulliner is targeted to clients who focus on sophisticated details.
The sedan is equipped with exclusive grey Mulliner 22-inch wheels with self-levelling wheel caps that remain upright as the wheels rotate. It also features a “Double Diamond” front grille and chrome front lower grille complemented by bespoke Mulliner branded wing vents and Satin Silver mirror caps. The iconic Bentley Flying B is electronically displayed and illuminated.
Passengers will be welcomed by Mulliner illuminated outer treadplates and deep-pile Mulliner overmats. The cabin offers a Mulliner curation of eight custom-made three-color combinations. It features a lavishly trimmed cockpit matched by accent color piping and unique Mulliner embroidery on the hand-stitched seats.
One example of the of the curated interior is the Ascot, which is a combination of Imperial Blue leather on the instrument panel, door trims, and handling, and a light tan leather called Camel that highlights the seat design. It also comes with white micro-piping, embroidery, and accent line.
Other combinations such as Flare and Sirius add bolder combinations such as Hotspur and Beluga, and Linen and Brunel. Both combinations come with a silver accent.
The seats are designed with the Diamond-in-Diamond quilting, while the door is upholstered with three-dimensional leather. The Bentley B chrome inlays are accentuated by the contrast seat piping that complements the accent that surrounds the occupants from the center console and around the instrument panel, and the finishes underneath the door waistrail.
The Diamond-in-Diamond quilting’s embroidery process took 18 months. Each diamond is composed of exactly 712 individual stitches, each one aligned to the exact center of the diamond it forms.
Diamond milled technical finish is applied on the center and rear consoles. A brushed silver Mulliner clock serves as the centerpiece feature on the dashboard.
The classic Bentley theme is also featured in the driver’s LED instrument panel that displays new exclusive Mulliner graphics. The cabin is made even more luxurious by the famous Bentley Rotating Display, sports pedals, heated duo-tone three-spoke steering wheel, and panoramic sunroof.
Unique Mulliner electrically-operated picnic tables are installed at the back of the front seats. These can be assembled with just a single press of a button. The veneered tables feature unique overlay and leather-trimmed surface with a recess for a pen or stylus. When the tables are not in use, the occupants can simply hold the button down to return them to their home position.
The Flying Spur Mulliner also comes with leather-bound keys in a unique, Mulliner-branded handcrafted presentation box that matches the three-color cabin configuration of the car. The two keys are placed inside color-matched cases with contrast stitching.
The new Flying Spur Mulliner is available with Bentley’s V8 and W12 powertrains, as well as the V6 hybrid. The 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged W12 engine allows the car to accelerate from a standstill to 100 kph in 3.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 333 kph. Meanwhile, the new-generation 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine generates a top speed of 318 kph and enables zero-to-100kph acceleration in 4.1 seconds. When equipped with the new V6 hybrid powertrain, the car can accelerate from standstill to 100kph in 4.3 seconds with a top speed of 285kph.
Bentley Mulliner is the bespoke commissioning division of Bentley. The new Flying Spur Mulliner is the third member of the Bentley Mulliner Collections family along with the Continental GT and Continental GT Convertible.
