Flying Spur S completes Bentley’s newest family of driving-focused models

MANILA Bentley is completing its new driver-focused S range with the launch of the new Flying Spur S.

Upgrades to Bentley's sedan bring extra dynamic ability, dramatic visual presence, and heightened aural drama. This is the first time that Bentley’s historic "S" badge has been applied to a Hybrid product and is another step toward Bentley’s vision of the carbon-neutral future, Beyond100. 

As with the recently launched Continental GT S and GT S Convertible, the new Flying Spur S models focus on the pleasure of driving — but with the added choice between four-liter V8 or V6 Hybrid powertrains.

Bentley customers now have a clear choice, with the comfort-oriented Flying Spur Azure emphasizing "Wellbeing behind the Wheel," or the new Flying Spur S models enhancing the driving experience through aural and visual cues. 

The V8 version of the Flying Spur S is powered by Bentley’s advanced four-liter V8 engine that develops 550ps and 770Nm of torque. The zero-to--62mph benchmark takes a mere four seconds and top speed of 198mph can be achieved. 

The Flying Spur S comes standard with Bentley Dynamic Ride, capable of applying up to 1,300Nm of anti-roll torque in 0.3 seconds to keep the body flat and stable under spirited cornering, while at the same time, deliver a smooth and supple ride for passengers 

Electronic All-wheel Steering is also included as standard. During low-speed maneuvers, the system turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction to the fronts by up to 4.2 degrees to reduce the turning circle and increase agility. At higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the fronts for confidence-inducing stability during lane changes and overtakes.

For city-based or environmentally focused clients, Bentley said the Flying Spur S is also available with a hybrid powertrain. This combines a 2.9-liter V6 petrol engine with an advanced electric motor, delivering a total of 536ps and 750Nm of torque.

In pure electric power, the Flying Spur Hybrid S is capable of up to 41 kilometers. Emitting just 75 grams of CO2 per kilometer in official tests, the Flying Spur Hybrid S is jointly the most efficient Bentley yet.

On their exterior, the Flying Spur S models' black brightware creates an athletic and understated look. The absence of bright polished metal highlights make the sporting Bentley look lower and wider. Gloss black lower bumper grilles, dark tinted headlamps and rear lights, black quad tailpipe finishers and distinctive S badging on the front fenders, and gloss black grille black gloss with vertical vanes and gloss surround, make the chrome Bentley badge and lettering on the bootlid stand out. 

The S range is offered with an all-new 22-inch wheel option, with five Y-shaped spokes, or a 21-inch tri-spoke wheel design. Whatever the wheel, standard-fit red brake calipers highlight the extroverted character of the S models.

For the interior of the Flying Spur S, customers get a choice of performance-focused two-tone color splits, handcrafted in Crewe’s leather shop using a combination of smooth hide and soft-napped Dinamica. This suede-like material is used for the heated steering wheel, gear lever, seat cushions and seat backrests, while leather hide wraps the seat bolsters, door pads, along the instrument panel and around the console.

The new S model range will make its dynamic debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed from June 23 to June 26. The Flying Spur S, GT S and GTC S will take to the famous hillclimb and be on display in the paddock throughout the event. They will be joined other Bentleys from past and present, including iconic racecars and a dedicated parade of models to celebrate 40 years of turbocharged Bentleys – with the new S range as the latest members of the family.
