MANILA: Astara Philippines is set to fire its opening salvo for the year as it will launch the GAC M8 this week.

    While waiting for its full specifications, here are some details about the vehicle that will be officially unveiled within the week.

    During its preview, GAC Motor Philippines Brand Head Franz Decloedt shared that the GAC M8 will come in two variants: the GL and the GX Master. The former will be priced in between P3 million-P3.1 million while the latter’s price tag, around P4 million-P4.1 million.

    For its exterior, the vehicle comes with a huge chrome grille that is unmistakably GAC to match the 18-inch wheels and appointments on the windows of its power-sliding doors. It also wears sharp LED headlamps, and posh-looking rear combination lamps.

    Meanwhile, the GAC M8’s cabin (at least the top-of-the-line trim) is outfitted with leather interiors, power adjustable seats for front occupants, ventilated and heated seats with massage functions, sectional panoramic roof, and three-zone automatic air-conditioning system.

    It also comes with a 14.6-inch multifunction touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Bluetooth connectivity matched to an eight-speaker system, a 12.3-inch digital cluster gauge, as well as Type A and Type C USB ports and 12-volt outlet.

    Powering the seven-seater GAC M8 is a 2.0-liter TGDI engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The mill can deliver up to 248 horsepower and 400 Newton-meters of torque.
