Geely Coolray leads subcompact SUV sales in May
MANILA: According to the recent reports of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID), the Geely Coolray led the subcompact 4x2 SUV month-to-date (MTD) sales in May with a 33% market share.
The Coolray moved a total of 186 units in May. Meanwhile, the Okavango ranked third in the midsize SUV segment with 151 units sold.
Geely was able to keep the ninth spot in total industry sales with year-to-date (YTD) sales of 1,987 units. In the passenger vehicle segment, the Chinese-owned brand ranked eighth.
Sojitz G Auto Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Youske Nishi stated, “We are pleased to see the good reception the Coolray and Okavango have been receiving in the market. This proves that we are offering our customers what they really need at this time.”
Globally, Geely Automobile Holding Limited Group registered a total exports sales volume of 10,384 units in May, which is double its record in the same month last year. It also recorded a 26% sales growth during the first five months of 2021, moving a total of 530,074 units.
