GIIAS 2024: Updated Mitsubishi Montero Sport reaches Indonesia

MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has showcased the updated Montero Sport (there known as Pajero Sport) at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024.

Now listed on Mitsubishi Indonesia’s website, it is the latest Southeast Asian country to get the mid-size sport utility vehicle’s (SUV) latest iteration.

Depending on the variant, the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport could be powered with either a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine or a 2.4-liter turbocharged mill with Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) technology — both of which are diesel-fed.

The former can be mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic transmission while the latter is paired with an eight-speed automatic system.

Power figures range from 134 horsepower with 324 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque to 178 horses with 430 Nm of pulling power.

Other notable features include an eight-inch digital driver display, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment display, synthetic leather seats with heatguard technology, and a dual-zone air conditioning system with nanoeX.

The updated Indonesian-spec Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is sold in six variants, namely Exceed 4X2 MT, Exceed 4X2 AT, GLX 4X4 MT, Dakar 4X2 AT, Dakar Ultimate 4X2 AT, and Dakar Ultimate 4X4 AT.

Pricing for the SUVs ranges from rp (Indonesian rupiah) 596,100,000 (approximately P2.149 million) to rp 767,000,000  (about P2.765 million).

Montero Sport in PH

In the Philippines, the updated Mitsubishi Montero Sport is offered in four variants. And while we do not get the Dakar-spec trims, Filipino car buyers are treated to a Black Series trim, namely the Black Series 2WD AT and Black Series 4WD AT.

Here, the pricing of the Montero Sport ranges from P1.568 million-P2.502 million.
