Here’s how the 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport is gonna look

MANILA: We recently covered a story on the reveal date of the upcoming 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport and just like always, while there are still good two weeks before the unveiling takes place, the Japanese automaker has released a teaser video showing off the revisited SUV. It’s Mitsubishi Thailand, to be specific, that has released the teaser video on its YouTube channel.

Having a look at the video, we are not surprised at all. The 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport or the 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport for Thailand boasts a front fascia that is reminiscent of the Strada pickup truck. Similar to the Strada, the 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport also gets a multi-tier lighting setup. Other changes up front include Eclipse Cross inspired LED DRLs, a three-slat chrome grille, a and larger than before Mitsubishi logo.

The front bumper has also undergone some hammering as it now features a chiseled appearance instead of a curvaceous look like before. Also updated is the chrome garnish, which now runs all the way to the end of the headlamps. The fog lamps on the updated Montero Sport remind us of the Delica D:5’s setup.

The video also reveals a new set of alloy wheels on the Japanese SUV. Moreover, the rear end on the 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport comes with a pair of vertically elongated wraparound taillamps. While the revamped SUV is set to come with an array of aesthetic updates, the powertrain should remain the same with a 2.4-litre MIVEC turbodiesel engine providing the Montero Sport with a maximum power of 181 PS and a peak torque of 430 Nm.

With just two weeks to go for the official unveiling of the 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport, we have to say we are pretty excited for witnessing the updated SUV in the flesh. How about you?
