Honda BR-V Launched in India

MANILA: The highly awaited Honda crossover has finally made its way to the Indian auto market after marking its debut in countries like Thailand, Japan and Indonesia. The all-new BR-V from the catalog of Honda vehicles gets a starting price tag of INR 875,000 (or PhP 622086.82) for petrol trims while the diesel variant gets a starting price tag of INR 990,000 (or PhP 703846.80).

The lesser known crossover segment is likely to see a shift due to the launch of BR-V on the Indian turf. With a considerable wheelbase of 2660 mm, the new BR-V sports an aggressive front and a prominent road stance. It features a thick chrome slat grille, projector headlamps, chrome decorated fog lamps and a stylish air dam at the front while the rear end is adorned with wrap-around LED tail lamps, a spoiler and a rectangular tailgate. Adding to its bold character are the roof rails and the prominent wheel arches that house 16-inch alloy wheels beneath.

The cabin has been intrinsically designed, which accounts for the 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, automatic air conditioning and a large 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB, AUX and HDMI connectivity. The seats and upholstery are adequately cushioned providing an extreme level of comfort to the passengers.

Talking about the BR-V specs, the crossover underpins a highly efficient 1.5-litre four-cylinder i-VTEC SOHC petrol engine, which has been made under the Earth Dreams Technology. It is capable of pumping out a max power of 117 hp and 145 Nm of torque while the power is transferred to the wheels via new CVT system or manual transmission. Whereas, the four-cylinder DOHC i-DTEC diesel engine is good enough for 98 hp at 3600 rpm and a peak torque of 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. Capable of running on alternative fuels like E85, the integrated engine is good enough to yield an impressive fuel economy.

As the Japanese brand has brought the all-new Civic to our shores last month, the time is not far when we’ll also witness the brilliance of all-new BR-V, but the exact time still remains a mystery for all of us.
