Hyundai H-100: Features explained
Hyundai first started building the H-100 lightweight truck back in 1977. Over the years Hyundai kept on upgrading the H-100. In 2004 Hyundai launched the fourth generation H-100 and surprisingly it is still on sale. The popular H-100 is among the three vans that Hyundai has to offer in the Philippines; the other two are Hyundai Grand Starex and Hyundai H350. Primarily built for practicality, the H-100 is a simple truck with very basic yet useful features. Read on to find out more about them in this story.
Sturdy front bumper
It's understandable that being a practical truck, the Hyundai H-100 would have to take a lot of beating. That's why it comes with a sturdy front bumper which is 2.5 mph impact resistant. It has a black moulding which prevents it from scratches and therefore maintains the look of the truck.
Clear-type headlamps
The headlamps on the Hyundai H-100 are of clear-type which not only look great but also provide better illumination. Also, the large size of the headlamps further enhances the throw of light helping in providing a clear vision up ahead.
Large outside rearview mirrors
The size of the outside rearview mirrors of the H-100 is quite big. This is a welcoming feature as it allows the driver to have a good view of what's behind and reduces blind spots thereby reducing the probability of a mishap.
Instrument cluster
Hyundai says that the instrument cluster of the H-100 is inspired from that of a sedan. Well, it would have been back in 2004 when the fourth generation of this truck was launched. Today, even the entry-level sedans have an advanced instrument cluster. However, the good thing about the instrument cluster of the H-100 is that it's simple and easily legible. It has a tachometer, speedometer, engine temperature metre, and fuel gauge. There are two small digital displays along with the necessary telltale warning signals.
Comfortable seats
The seats in the cabin of the H-100 are quite comfortable. They are nicely contoured and provide a decent amount of comfort. You can seat three people in the cabin including the driver. The driver's seat can slide forward or backwards depending on the need and hence provide a good driving position.
2.6-litre powerful engine
The Hyundai H-100 specs reveal that it has a 2.6-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated diesel engine that suffices Euro 2 norms. It has been tuned to churn out a max power of 80 PS at 4000 rpm and generate a peak torque of 168 Nm at just 2200 rpm. This low-end torque comes in handy when taking off from a stop with a heavy load. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
These were some of the useful features of the H-100. There are two variants of this truck available in the country - 2.6 GL 5M/T Dsl w/o AC and 2.6 GL 5M/T Dsl w/ AC. Both of them are available only in one color option - white. The Hyundai H-100 price starts at Php 870,000 for the non-AC model and the AC trim will cost you Php 900,000.
