Hyundai Kona uses lighter, stronger Advanced High-Strength Steel
MANILA: Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of the auto brand’s vehicles in the Philippines, takes pride in the Hyundai Kona, which it says has a lot to offer in terms of world-renowned style, road-conquering power, supreme comfort, and safety technologies.
The Kona made a huge influence as one of the subcompact members of the SUV family of Hyundai on the basis of one feature that it shares with the Hyundai Tucson. This involves unique durability due to the Advanced High-Strength Steel (AHSS) of Hyundai, which is considered to be 10% lighter, but twice as durable as traditional steel.
Compared to the Hyundai Tucson, which is constructed with 51% AHSS, the Hyundai Kona has a 51.8% AHSS body — improving its safety scores in numerous crash tests conducted in North America and Europe.
Aside from its style and superb performance, the Kona also features an athletic exterior design, wing-like fenders, and a cascading grille fitted with a brilliant separated headlight design that includes LED daytime running lights and projector halogen headlights.
The Kona is also regarded as the more adventurous and funkier younger version of the Tucson.
Thanks to the 2.0-liter Atkinson gasoline engine with six-speed automatic transmission, Euro 4 emission rating, the Hyundai Kona performs superbly on uphill climbs and long rides.
The engine generates a maximum power output of 147hp and a maximum torque of 180Nm. The Kona’s drive mode technology allows the driver to command when and how to utilize the power that will effectively match anyone’s driving style.
Aside from its modern interior equipped with cushioned fabric for its five-seating capacity, the Hyundai Kona has adequate rear and front headroom. It also has spacious legroom due to its exterior dimension of 1,800mm, which in turn, promotes heightened on-road stability. Moreover, it has a long wheelbase of 2,600mm that translates to sufficient passenger legroom.
Outdoor adventurers and urban dwellers can enjoy security on the road thanks to the standard six-airbag system of the Kona.
As for its safety technologies, the Hyundai Kona features a convenient Smart Key + Push Button Start system, Isofix child seat anchors, tire pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control (ESC), as well as anti-lock braking system (ABS).
HARI also offers hassle-free ownership experience for the Hyundai Kona, including a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.
