In the Philippines, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is offered in two variants, Standard and Long Range.According to IIHS, the 2024 model year of the electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) has garnered the highest possible safety designation despite the more stringent testing carried out by the organization.
“The updated Ioniq 5 was put through the new, more stringent version of the IIHS side test and earned a Good rating. The SUV is available with Good-rated LED projector headlights or Acceptable-rated LED reflectors. Its standard front crash prevention system earns a Superior rating in the daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluation and an Advanced rating in the nighttime test,” said IIHS President David Harkey.
Just like what the IIHS President explained, the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 has met the new standards set by the organization for its crash avoidance and mitigation tests. Further, it went on to register Good scores on all four crashworthiness tests, namely the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, original moderate overlap front, and updated side tests.
Thanks to these ratings, the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 was able to snatch the coveted TSP+ award.
“The award-winning Ioniq 5 includes numerous standard safety systems and a host of technology and driver assist safety features not found on other EVs (electric vehicles). We are proud of the safety improvements made for the 2024 model year and will continue to innovate with our safety, design, and engineering,” Hyundai Motor Company Global Chief Safety Officer Brian Latouf noted.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is also available in the Philippines. It is offered in two variants, Standard and Long Range. They are priced at P3.068 and P3.698, respectively.
To recall, Hyundai Motor Philippines said at the recently concluded 11th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit that all purchases of the Ioniq 5 will come with a 7.4-kilowatt AC charger.
